The New York Red Bulls (RBNY) are one of 27 teams participating in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2021. We are one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its founding in 1996.  The club plays home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. RBA, a state-of-the-art 25,000-seat stadium, is widely regarded as the top soccer-specific stadium in North America. The club is owned by the Austrian energy drink and beverage company Red Bull GmbH for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams, which annually rank amongst the best U.S. Soccer Development Academy programs in the nation.

The purpose of this position is to provide ongoing strategic decision support to all business areas of RBNY and directly assist the Director, Finance, Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer in monitoring all financial operations of the company, including but not limited to Red Bull New York, Inc., Red Bull Arena, Inc. and RBNY Academy, Inc. This is a temporary position with an immediate start date and an expected end date through November 2021.

Financial Planning & Analysis / Business Decision Support
  • Support the Finance Department efforts in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and Business Decision Support functions relating to RBNY, RBA, and RBNY Academy.
  • Support the maintenance, improvement, and utilization of financial models detailing all revenue streams, expenses and capital expenditures to create detailed, bottoms up budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • In coordination with the Director, Finance, the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, support the company’s Financial Planning process. This includes support over the company’s Annual Business Planning Process, which is a standard global process across all Red Bull subsidiaries.
  • Work with budget owners to support the management of revenue, expense and capital expenditures budgets and forecasts.
  • Work with Arena Operations and Sales teams to support the development of financial models and the assessment of profitability of proposed arena events, partnerships, and sponsorship deals.
  • Provide support on all finance-related forward-looking analysis, including the development of ad-hoc models as requested by Senior Management, Red Bull HQ, and budget owners.
  • Support the production of the post-match Management Reporting Package, which includes key performance indicators on both the sporting and commercial areas and the consolidated monthly financial results.
  • Support ongoing identification of Risks and Opportunities in departmental budgets and forecasts and communicate such findings to key stakeholders.
  • Support the internal deal memo approval process and support the sponsorship team with P&L analysis on sponsor related deals.
  • Support the tracking of actual results related to material transactions such as sponsorship agreements, arena events and other significant transactions and/or contracts.
  • Produce the daily tracking and reporting of ticket sales, detailing Risks and Opportunities for each match and overall season.

  • Advanced capabilities with MS Excel, particularly macros, vlookups, and the management of pivot tables.
  • Strong analytical skills complemented by the ability to interact with and explain key findings to Senior Management and business stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented nature and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and professional manner. Strong organizational and prioritization skills are key. 
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Experience with SAP and Oracle Hyperion is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with ticketing systems, client relationship management systems and databases is desirable.

  • College degree (Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics is desirable).
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Corporate Finance, Business Strategy, Corporate Development, or Investment Banking.
  • Prior experience with developing, managing, and analyzing financial models is a must. 
  • Prior experience working for a sports team, athletic department, entertainment venue/event, or in the media/entertainment industry is desirable.
