Player Operations: General Manager
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is an MLS soccer club serving the greater Los Angeles area. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Soccer Operations is responsible for supporting the Co-President + General Manager and entire Soccer Operations Department on Club matters pertaining to the building and management of our MLS and MLS Next Pro (MLSNP) rosters. This person will work closely with the Co-President + General Manager to accomplish team and business objectives and ensure compliance with MLS rules and regulations.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Participate in Club roster build, including international and MLS signings, MLS draft, MLS Next Pro, and Academy.
  • Manage team salary cap and roster per MLS and MLSNP rules and regulations in support of General Manager.
  • Serve as point of contact for MLS league office interaction related to salary cap and roster regulations.
  • Track expenditures on player payroll alongside LAFC Finance department.
  • Assist in agent/player contract negotiations and drafting of contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Oversee immigration process of international players.
  • Ensure Club compliance with MLS and FIFA regulations.
  • Support hiring processes for Soccer Operations team as applicable. 
  • Act as liaison between Soccer Operations and other working departments within the Club.
  • Represent the Club in MLS committees related to Soccer Operations as needed. 
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned and/or required. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/ University in Business or related field, or equivalent experience in similar role required. Law Degree and legal background preferred. 
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience working in a similar role with MLS, or a professional sports team preferred.  
  • High level of commitment to quality of work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance. 
  • Detail oriented with excellent performance and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, operate effectively, and make sound decisions in a dynamic working environment with frequent changes and tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and interact with internal and external clients across all levels. 
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to correspond effectively and efficiently both written and verbal. 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, One Note, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the event calendar requires.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is plus. 
 
SALARY RANGE:
$150k - $200k
