POSITION SUMMARY:
The core function of the Manager of Retail Strategy is to create a retail environment that represents and elevates our brand, fan affinity and engagement with the purpose to generate revenue through successful executions of retail and merchandising strategies for Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash.
 
The individual in this role will effectively work as the lead strategist and serve as a liaison with our third-party retail operating partners to ensure that our merchandise meets our Club’s strategic goals, and that the stadium team store operates efficiently and effectively for all parties. 
 
The Manager will work collaboratively in a dynamic environment and cross-functionally with creatives, marketing, revenue, and business intelligence leads to ensure we have a complete comprehensive retail and merchandise strategy reflective of our brand.  
 
The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for fashion, culture, and is an intentional retail marketer who is determined to deliver revenue and success. 
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the vision and direction with third-party retail operators on merchandise and consumer products, including design.
  • Serve as the liaison with our third-party retail operator to ensure stadium team store and alternate stores run efficiently for both Clubs and meet revenue growth targets. 
  • Establish and sustain seasonal retail collection programs in partnership with our brand and creative leads. 
  • Ideate and complete retail marketing campaigns to drive fan engagement and conversion. 
  • Create and oversee creation of and implement retail promotional calendar, as well as lead digital product launches in parallel with product release dates.  
  • Collaborate with brand influencers and local artist to create Houston centric brand representation. 
  • Work closely with the Business Intelligences & Analytics team to lean into data and insights to better drive focus around tactical efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of three (3) years or equivalent work experience in retail marketing related field
  • Knowledge of consumer retail landscape 
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging trends in the fashion and consumer products 
  • Strong work ethic with an attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve desired outcome 
  • Is agile and able to respond optimally to the constantly evolving needs of a fast-paced organization and industry 
  • Ability to work within in a collaborative and goal-based environment 
  • Prior sports and/or entertainment industry experience preferred
