Player Operations: Any Sport - Coach
The Formation Phase Lead Coach is an exceptionally important position within our club’s growing infrastructure and professional pathway. The primary role of this position is to lead the development of players within a team in Formation Phase (U13, U14, U15) as a Head Coach.
The Formation Phase is ‘the heart’ of our developmental pathway in which we look to create and
environment dynamic development, teaching our Game Model, Game Principles and utilizing our
evolving Academy methodology. The Formation Phase Lead Coach will be a key leader to oversee and manage the development of a team of many talented and hard-working young players. This is a position that requires a passion for onfield youth development and teaching, as well as expertise off-field, to create, design and implement training and development plans that support, track, and improve both individual and collective levels.

Development Objectives:
  • To cultivate a growth mindset and love of learning
  • To teach the game in a positive and instructive way
  • To teach the players to fall in love with the ball and to be skillful and intelligent
  • To improve each player on an individual level towards their highest potentials
  • To provide holistic development: including academic, athletic and social components
  • To prepare our players to ready to compete at national & international levels
  • To prepare our players to integrate into the Pre-Professional phase

Major Responsibilities:
  • Expertly oversee the planning and development of an Academy team in the Formation Phase.
  • Monitor both individual and team development through high-level developmental trainings.
  • Lead an Academy team on game-days.
  • Support other Formation staff members during trainings and matches as a team of coaches.
  • Extensively review and reflect on trainings and games through video review and teaching.
  • Facilitate and support individual development plans for Academy players.
  • Scout and recruit top talents into the Dynamo FC Academy.
  • Assist with Academy game-day operations and events.
  • Participate in strategy discussions regarding player development and identification.
  • Aid in the player assessment and player integration for the Academy.

  • USSF A or UEFA A preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong teaching background.
  • Strength in methodology, planning and periodization.
  • 5-10 years of high-level coaching experience in the Formation Phase (U13, U14, U15).
  • Demonstrated experience and results in developing successful individuals and teams.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, plan and teach developmental concepts to young players.
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team, while exercising sound judgement and discretion.
  • Ability and competency utilizing Video Analysis software (HUDL/ SportsCode/ Wyscout).
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
