JOB SUMMARY: 
Chicago Fire FC is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in gaining experience in marketing and brand strategy, events, grassroots marketing, advertising and matchday presentation. Students must be available at least 15-20 hours per week. Students MUST RECEIVE ACADEMIC CREDIT to qualify for this internship.

Date to start: spring or summer

 POSITION PURPOSE: 
The primary responsibility is to provide weekday and matchday assistance to the Marketing and Digital Departments. Intern duties may include: 
  • Assist in marketing plan development and execution, including preparation for all-new matchday experience at Soldier Field
  • Matchday operations responsibilities (*may require some heavy lifting), which includes working all weekend and weeknight games. Matchday duties may include working on promotions, and customer service 
  • Inventory management and distribution of Marketing collateral and promotional items
  • Operationalize the all-new Chicago Fire Kids Club 
  • Assist in planning and execution of grassroots marketing efforts, including managing lead collection, distribution of promotional items, and creating staff information sheets 
  • Assist in execution of club engagement with eMLS and FIFA club marketing program
  • Facilitate relationships with local pub partners at the direction of departmental supervisors
  • Conduct research regarding further marketing opportunities for Chicago Fire FC
  • General updates and maintenance of Chicago Fire FC website and mobile app
  • Contribute to promotional planning around 2020 Theme Nights and special initiatives
  • Assist with digital content capture involving first team players and club affiliates
  • Some responsibilities will include clerical work, such as filing, data entry, inventory, copying and correspondence

REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Understanding of key marketing concepts 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing 
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 
  • Goal-oriented, ambitious, honest individuals sought with strong work ethic, dedication and desire to learn and contribute 
  • Reliable transportation to Chicago Fire FC’s downtown offices  at 1 North Dearborn (weekdays) and Soldier Field (matchdays)
  • Ability to fluently speak a second language a plus
  • Availability beginning in May 2020 or sooner
  • Reports to: Senior Director of Marketing

Day-to-day responsibilities:
  • Brand 
    • Work with Marketing team to enhance the brand both internally and externally 
  • Merchandise 
    • Help develop and execute promotional plan
    • Work with Marketing manager to execute product launches 
    • Inventory assistance 
  • Mobile App 
    • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of content and matchday information
    • Update the app with new content 
  • Bar and Pub Presence 
    • Enhance Club’s presence in Chicagoland bars through appearances, Marketing materials and other tactics 
  • Grassroots Marketing Events 
    • Assist in scheduling and execution of community events and appearances, ensuring adherence to brand standards and generating leads and engagement with attendees 
  • Kids Club 
    • Manage database and new memberships
  • Inventory Management 
    • Tracking marketing assets being used

Matchday Responsibilities:
  • Execution of prematch Fan Fest activations
  • Assist with on-field activations
