Chicago Fire Football Club is a Major League Soccer team that was founded in 1997 and is Chicago’s ambassador to the global sport of soccer. The Club recently returned to Soldier Field as well as opened a new 50,000 square foot office in the heart of the city. With tremendous growth and expansion, the Club is laying the foundation for an audacious and ambitious vision that will transform the brand and the success of the Club in the coming years.

Chicago Fire FC is seeking a Performance, Advisory, and Support Services (PASS) Intern to join us for our fall program. This is a paid part-time (<30 hours per week) internship eligible for an hourly rate of $16.00. 

Job Responsibilities:
  • Administer and analyze mental performance assessment data
  • Conduct 1:1 mental performance sessions with Academy players 
  • Develop mental performance training plans for Academy players 
  • Develop and conduct mental performance/group workshops for Academy teams
  • Observe practice throughout the week and analyze players/teams with a mental performance focus 
  • Attend select home and away games on weekends to evaluate mental performance/readiness of players
  • Plan and execute character and club core value workshops
  • Utilize online software to provide supplemental learning opportunities and materials
  • Deliver parent education and coach education workshops, as needed
  • Refer/report to the Manager of PASS if there are any signs of clinical mental health/player welfare issues 
  • Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading and developing professional contacts with colleagues, as directed by Senior Coordinator of PASS or Manager of 

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university, required
  • Currently enrolled in a master’s psychology program with an emphasis on mental performance or a similar area, highly preferred
  • Previous football experience, required
  • Ability to work independently on projects 
  • Experience working efficiently and effectively in group and individual settings
  • Proficient in using Microsoft suite
  • Available and willing to work weeknights and weekends
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to commute to and from SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, IL
  • Fully COVID vaccinated and boosted
