Position Summary

The Island FC seeks a proven leader with experience launching and operating a professional soccer club. This role requires building and scaling profitable business verticals—including commercial sponsorships, ticketing, and merchandise—while building a high-performing team integrated with youth and facility operations.

The President of Business Operations will drive the club’s commercial success and organizational growth ahead of its MLS NEXT Pro debut in 2027, with a strategic vision that includes the eventual addition of a women’s professional team.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The President will directly lead a core revenue stream and scale additional businesses through a lean, results-driven team, while unifying all youth operations under the pro club’s finalized brand and aligning them with its commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

     Overview:
  • Develop and Execute Commercial Strategy: Drive ticketing, sponsorships, partnerships, and other revenue streams to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Advance Community Engagement
    - Grassroots Outreach: Build partnerships with local youth soccer programs, schools, and community organizations.
    - Fan Development: Create initiatives to attract and retain supporters through events, activations, and inclusive experiences.
    - Corporate & Civic Partnerships: Collaborate with local businesses and civic groups to strengthen the club’s presence and reputation.
  • Drive Strategic Growth: Prepare for MLS NEXT Pro launch and future expansion into women’s professional soccer.
  • Integrate Youth Businesses: Work closely with the President of Youth Operations to align multiple established youth programs under the aspirational professional club structure.
  • Activate Brand Identity: Implement the rollout of the finalized professional brand across all touchpoints.
  • Lead Operational Excellence: Implement lean practices, design efficient front-office systems, and oversee staffing, recruitment, and succession planning.
     
     Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Proven Experience: Launching and operating a professional or minor league sports club, preferably soccer, with familiarity in competitive markets.
  • Revenue Expertise: Demonstrated ability to design and scale revenue-generating verticals, including sponsorships, ticketing, merchandise, and event management.
  • Operational Leadership: Skilled in building and mentoring a cohesive team aligned with both professional and youth operations; comfortable guiding entry- and mid-level staff.
  • Strategic Acumen: Expertise in commercial strategy, lean operational practices, and cost discipline; entrepreneurial mindset with ambition for growth.
  • Youth Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the youth soccer ecosystem and its connection to professional pathways.
  • Sporting Understanding: Experience collaborating on soccer operations, including contract negotiations, transfer fee and training compensation management, and team budgeting—while maintaining a strong working relationship with Sporing Director.
  • Brand & Communication Skills: Effective communicator in civic, sponsor, and media settings; bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Cultural Fit: Creative, adaptable, and committed to fostering a positive, mission-driven culture and long-term growth, including expansion into women’s professional soccer.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Comfortable working with ownership and senior leadership to execute strategic priorities.
     
     Compensation Package:
  • Competitive salary and commission structure commensurate with experience.
