Overview

The Senior Coordinator, Match Day Operations is responsible for performing duties related to Major League Soccer (MLS) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) Operations for Major League Soccer regular season, playoffs and marquee events.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as operational Account Manager to assigned MLS Clubs to deliver a unique sporting environment, working closely with clubs to influence positive change while balancing policies.
  • Assume a key role in the planning and execution of MLS/SUM events (including but not limited to MLS All-Star, MLS Cup, Mexico National Team Friendlies, Leagues Cup, Campeones Cup, and other tournaments).
  • Evaluate and Manage Operational platforms for data collection, analysis, and distribution.
  • Update and maintain operational policy and best practice documents.
  • Attend venue site visits as part of Account Manager duties, Expansion Club stadium builds, and/or event planning and present findings to the key stakeholders.
  • Serve in the NYC Soccer Operations Center department rotation, covering all MLS regular season games (and international matches when necessary) to facilitate crisis management.
  • Perform administrative duties such as processing payment for vendors and third parties, reviewing contracts, and budget reconciliation.
  • Serve as Venue Manager and Match Coordinator for assigned MLS and SUM Events, as assigned by department leadership.
  • Assist in the supervision of department intern(s), if applicable.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Manager.
  • Travel up to 45%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Sports Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in events and/or operations (preferably within the sports industry).

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Smartsheets
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
 
Desired Skills
  • Experience in event planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of the Spanish language (business proficiency).
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer.
 
Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary $62,400 – 68,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
