Who are we hiring?
The Video Analyst plays a critical role within the Kansas City Current Analysis Department, supporting the coaching staff and technical leadership through the collection, analysis, and delivery of performance insights. This position reports to the Sporting Director and works closely with the wider Analysis Department, coaching staff, and cross-functional departments to enhance tactical preparation, training effectiveness, and matchday performance.
This role is responsible for the capture, coding, and distribution of training and match content while delivering actionable insights that support team performance, player development, and the club’s overall football strategy. The Video Analyst ensures the club’s analytical processes operate efficiently and evolve alongside modern best practices in elite football analysis.
What will you do?
Training Analysis
- Lead the filming and coding of all First Team training sessions using fixed camera systems and drones.
- Manage the distribution and storage of training analysis packages to coaching staff via approved platforms.
- Maintain a structured training database and support coaches with the selection of model training review clips.
- Develop insights to support coaching and performance staff in evaluating training effectiveness.
Matchday Operations
- Attend all First Team matches (home and away).
- Lead matchday analysis operations including equipment preparation, setup, and pack-down.
- Execute live analysis workflows and provide technical support for coaching staff during matches.
- Ensure matchday technology needs for supporting departments are met.
- Manage the distribution of post-match video packages across club platforms.
Match Review & Performance Insights
- Work with the Head Coach and Sporting Director to develop and track Style of Play KPIs.
- Lead post-match team and individual reporting to deliver clear, actionable insights to coaching staff.
- Maintain a video library of Style of Play best practices supporting team, unit, and individual player development.
Department Operations
- Lead Analysis Department workflows, coordinating responsibilities across the analysis team.
- Organize and manage the storage of all First Team technical content in accordance with department standards.
- Maintain and optimize analysis software, hardware, and video platforms to support coaching and performance staff.
- Support opposition analysis processes when required.
- Contribute to internal analysis meetings and ongoing workflow development.
What do you need to succeed?
Required
- Strong tactical understanding of football.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate insights clearly to coaches and technical staff.
- Strong problem-solving ability in fast-paced environments.
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in first team professional soccer analysis.
- Valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Drone License).
- Strong proficiency with Hudl Suite (Sportscode, Wyscout, Studio).
Preferred
- Experience with event data providers (StatsBomb, Opta).
- Experience with Python or R.
- Experience with Tableau or Power BI.
- Coaching qualifications or coaching experience.
Special requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
- Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
- Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
