The Director, Human Resources will support the execution of day-to-day HR initiatives across the organization, including support for stadium and part-time workforce operations. This role will focus on core HR operations, workforce planning support, recruiting, and the consistent delivery of HR processes.
This role will support both front office and stadium operations, with an increased focus on supporting stadium and part-time workforce needs, including coordination, communication, and overall employee experience.
This position will also manage the club’s internship and early career programs and support recruiting efforts across a range of roles.
The ideal candidate is resourceful and comfortable rolling up their sleeves to support a wide range of HR activities in a dynamic, event-driven environment.
What will you do?
HR Operations & Team Support
- Partner with the HR Coordinator to support core HR processes, including recruiting coordination, onboarding, and employee lifecycle activities.
- Help ensure HR policies and practices are applied consistently across the organization.
- Support day-to-day HR workflows and maintain efficient, well-organized processes across the team.
- Serve as a reliable point-of-contact for day-to-day HR needs across the organization.
Recruiting Support
- Execute full-cycle recruitment for a range of full-time roles across the organization, with a primary focus on manager-level and below positions.
- Partner with department leaders to understand hiring needs and support effective recruitment strategies.
- Support the development of candidate pipelines through networking, industry relationships, and proactive outreach.
- Ensure a strong and consistent candidate experience that reflects the Kansas City Current brand.
Stadium & Part-Time Workforce Support
- Support guest services and broader part-time workforce needs, helping ensure a consistent and positive employee experience across stadium operations.
- Assist with coordination of hiring, onboarding, and general HR support for part-time and event-day staff as needed.
- Partner with stadium vendors (including food & beverage, housekeeping, and other operational partners) to maintain communication and coordination around workforce needs.
- Support alignment across KC Current facilities to promote a positive and efficient environment.
Internship & Early Career Programs
- Manage the club’s internship and early career programs.
- Coordinate with department leaders to identify meaningful projects and development opportunities for interns.
- Build relationships with universities and community partners to strengthen early-career talent pipelines.
- Help ensure interns have a productive and engaging experience with the organization.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support the effective use of HR systems, including HRIS and ATS platforms.
- Help identify opportunities to improve HR workflows and recruiting processes.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Support policy development and employee handbook updates.
- Maintain proper HR documentation and compliance practices.
What do you need to succeed?
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 5–8 years of progressive HR or HR operations experience
- Experience supporting recruiting and talent acquisition efforts
- Experience supporting HR operations and processes
- Experience working with HRIS and ATS systems (Paycor and TeamWork Online preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Preferred
- Experience in sports, entertainment, hospitality, or event-based industries
- Experience supporting organizations with both full-time and large part-time/event-based workforces
- Creative and willing to approach HR challenges with non-traditional solutions
- Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR)
Special requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time-sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
- Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
- Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
