COMPANY BACKGROUND
The Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and
supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club’s brands include men's
and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development
academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park.
The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament
championships for both the Dynamo (2018) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next
championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community
outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The seasonal Performance Dietitian Fellow will work within the medical department while collaborating
with technical staff, sports performance, and support staff to serve the needs of the Houston Dash. This is a
season-long position that will support the team Dietitian. The seasonal dietitian fellow will assist in
providing nutrition education, counseling, nutrition programming and tasks as assigned – supervised by the
Director of Medical/Team Dietitian.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIE
Nutrition Education
  • Evaluate team-based nutrition needs to determine effective and appropriate 
  • Educational strategies
  • Provide performance nutrition education through created documents, presentations, digital communication, and other various teaching methods.
  • Integrate nutrition education with injured players and communicate interventions with support team and staff
  • Collaborate with team Dietitian in the development of education and growth for the Houston Dash Performance nutrition department
Applied Performance Nutrition
  • Maintain effective communication regarding athlete nutrition with the medical, performance, and technical departments
  • Assess dietary habits and analyze energy balance among players to maintain and enhance athletic performance
  • Collaborate on performance outcomes within medical and performance departments
Clinical Sports Nutrition
  • Work with team Dietitian and the medical team to provide medical nutrition therapy to help manage and monitor medical conditions as well illness & injury recovery.
  • Stay up to date on scientific research and trends about sports and medical nutrition
  • Collaborate with medical team, performance team, coaching staff and catering companies on athlete nutritional needs
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by team Dietitian
Food Service/Inventory Management & Operations
  • Oversee nutrition needs adhering to assigned budgets
  • Coordinate meals with Team Chef(s) and caterers at home and during team travel
  • Assist with NSF Certified for Sports supplement inventory and distribution
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition or a related area
  • Current and accredited dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic registration (CDR)
  • 6 months – 1 year experience working within a collegiate and/or professional sport nutrition setting

  • Flexibility to relocate to Houston, Texas for duration of season
