Controller/Director of Finance
Hometown Soccer Holdings (HSH) is building a portfolio of locally rooted MLS NEXT Pro clubs, each deeply embedded in its community and built to create lasting connections with fans. As HSH grows its footprint across the country, the organization is investing in the financial infrastructure needed to support a multi-club enterprise with the rigor, transparency, and operational discipline that sustainable growth demands. The Controller will serve as the accounting leader responsible for building and managing the systems, processes, and controls that keep HSH's financial operations accurate, compliant, and positioned to scale.

Reporting to the CFO/COO, this leader will oversee all day-to-day accounting operations across HSH and its affiliated entities, manage the financial close process, and establish the internal controls and reporting frameworks that give leadership clear, reliable visibility into the business. The Controller will serve as both a hands-on accounting operator and a cross-functional partner, working closely with club operators, department leaders, and external advisors to ensure HSH's financial foundation is built to support a rapidly growing portfolio.

This is a compelling opportunity for a technically strong, process-oriented accounting professional to play a foundational role in building the finance function of a growing multi-club organization. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in GAAP accounting and financial reporting, a track record of building scalable systems and controls in high-growth environments, and a genuine passion for soccer and sports.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations for HSH and affiliated entities, including management of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring proper accounting for revenues, expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
  • Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies, ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company standards.
  • Coordinate annual financial audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors on federal, state, and local tax filings.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, treasury support, and bank reconciliations, ensuring timely vendor payments and accurate customer invoicing.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital in partnership with the CFO/COO, supporting banking relationships and treasury activities.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process, preparing monthly financial reporting packages, variance analyses, and dashboards that provide meaningful business insights to leadership.
  • Partner with department leaders across ticketing, sponsorship, retail, marketing, and technology to monitor budgets, improve financial workflows, and identify operational efficiencies.
  • Help implement and optimize ERP and accounting systems, developing scalable processes that support continued club expansion.
  • Support the development and growth of the accounting team as the organization scales, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
