The Senior Team Services and Facilities Manager is responsible, under the guidance of the Executive Director Stadium and Venue Management (Mexico) and Team Services Lead (Zurich), for overseeing the overall delivery of the Team Services Project in Mexico.

The Senior Team Services and Facilities Manager will be responsible for building a Mexican Team Services team consisting of paid staff (long-term and short-term) and volunteers to ensure:

  1. The best possible standard of communication, facilities, and support will be provided to participating teams and referees in Mexico before and during the FIFA World Cup 26 and potential FIFA test events; and
  2. Efficient and smooth team operations will be delivered by the Team Services team jointly with all relevant functional areas before and during the tournament in Mexico.
  3. Operational planning and implementation of Team Base Camps and venue-specific team facilities in Mexico. 

The Senior Team Services and Facilities Manager will contribute to the strategic planning and lead the implementation of the Team Services Project jointly and consistently across the three host countries. While focusing on Mexico, they will ensure that the Team Services project is ultimately delivered as one across the three host countries, with minimal variation in the delivery of services between host countries. 

They will collaborate and coordinate with the different functional areas connected to team operations and facilities and will represent Team Services internally and with external partners, such as the host cities and local and federal governments.

THE POSITION

The main responsibilities of the Senior Team Services and Facilities Manager for the FIFA World Cup 26 include:  
  • Leading and managing the Team Services project in Mexico;
  • Ensuring that team facilities (training sites and hotels) are assessed, carefully selected, and prepared for participating teams;
  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing all services to be delivered to the teams and referees following FIFA regulations, policies and guidelines in Mexico;
  • Managing, reviewing, and controlling the budget, including reporting regularly to the  Executive Director of Stadium and Venue Management (Mexico);
  • Leading the development of various operational concepts for Team Services and participating in all respective reviews, meetings, and other relevant activities  in close collaboration with counterparts in the United States and Canada;
  • Ensuring a consistent approach between the three host countries on all Team Services-related matters;
  • Contributing to the planning and delivery of all competition-related events, such as FIFA test events, the Team Seminar and/or Team Workshop, and FIFA Refereeing seminars and workshops, following the guidance of the Team Services Lead (Zurich) and TSV Planning Manager (USA);
  • Contributing to effective communication with the participating teams within the overall communications plan, in close collaboration with counterparts in the United States and Canada;
  • Contributing to the project planning and tracking of team-related communication tools and platforms 
  • Overseeing the building, leading and managing of the Team Services team in Mexico within the overall defined framework and in close collaboration with counterparts in the United States, Canada and Zurich;
  • Implementing all Team Services policies, procedures and concepts prepared by the Planning Manager (USA);
  • Overseeing FIFA Team Services and Refereeing staff inspections as well as the teams’ inspection visits in México;
  • Working effectively and collaborating with the central Project Management team, meeting all internal reporting deadlines;
  • Working with local organizations and functional areas to ensure effective planning and delivery of services to the teams;
  • After the tournament(s), producing a final report summarizing all relevant operations, results and statistics, where applicable, as well as lessons learned;
  • Developing and implementing Team Services action plans and timelines for Mexico; and
  • Leading the recruitment, training and management of the Team Services staff and volunteers in Mexico

YOUR PROFILE
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (oral and written)
  • A minimum of five years of sports event management experience, ideally at the international level, international football and/or other sports.
  • Experience in team services, competition management, as well as sports facility operation, event planning, and event project management processes.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across business areas. 
  • Able to hire, develop, coach, appraise, and retain experienced and less experienced employees.
  • Capable of making decisions using problem-solving skills and exercising sound judgment to achieve results.
  • High energy levels, motivational leadership, effective negotiation skills, excellent communication skills, and positive relationship management skills.
  • Comfortable working in an international, demanding, and changing environment
