Reporting functionally to the Director Event Technology Operations and organizationally to the Chief Tournament Officer in Mexico, the Head of Technology Operations, Mexico will be a key member of the FIFA26 Technology  team, and work in close collaboration with the Technology teams in Zurich and other key individuals responsible for the planning, delivery and operations of the Technology services required for the operations of the FIFA World Cup 2026 for the Mexican venues.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities and oversights of the Head of Technology Operations Mexico for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include:  
  • Ensure all aspects of Technology, Telecommunications and Broadcast Technology Services are implemented in accordance with the FIFA Technology requirements and multifaceted client groups.  
  • Build, lead, and manage a strong diverse team composed of paid staff, contractors and volunteers for operating the technology services across all venues across the tournament programme. 
  • Represent and leading on Technology matter in (governmental) forums and working groups.
  • Maintain and develop stakeholder relationships between FIFA, host cities, management and suppliers.
  • Responsible for the procurement of technology services including the development of bid documentation, tenders, supplier selection and onboarding of suppliers . 
  • Present regular timely programme updates to senior management 
  • Develop regular progress, risk and issue management reports in accordance with the governance structure / reporting methodologies and, or PMO systems 
  • Contribute and support the development of the technology master delivery plan.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of a mega event as they relate to technology and telecommunications.
  • Minimum of 10 years overall IT experience and minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in the Sports / major event industry is a must
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of complex IT programs and projects 
  • Ability to always maintain a professional demeanour. Consistently interacts professionally and works productively with all levels of employee. 
  • Excellent cross group collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to lead virtual teams across groups, conflict management and driving consensus to deliver on program milestones  
  • Excellent Leadership skills and able to manage and motivate other team members
