The D.C. United Field Crew Operations team is looking for talented, hardworking undergraduate and graduate students aspiring to enter the professional sports industry to join us as interns for the spring semester of the 2026 season. Interns will have the opportunity to assist and learn about full-stadium operation and corporate/entertainment events throughout the duration of the internship, including but not limited to D.C. United matches, Washington Spirit matches, UFL games, and International Friendlies. Field Crew Operations Interns will report directly to the Director of Grounds to assist and shadow day-to-day tasks of the club and support the full life cycle of various events during the internship. Audi Field internships are for college credit only. The internship allows individuals to gain valuable experience with a professional organization while getting exposure to working in an event and operations role. 

Spring Internship: Feb 2026 - May 2026

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following): 
  • Assist with field set-up/breakdown for all full-stadium events to include soccer, football, rugby, concerts  
  • Assist with field lining for different sporting events  
  • Ability to work long hours, nights and weekends 
  • Ability to operate hand tools and small equipment  
  • Support the planning, logistics, and execution of various stadium and event operational projects to include full field resod 
  • Ability to work and learn on a variety of different surfaces, to include synthetic and bermuda grass 
  • Ability to learn and understand fertility, IPM, cultural practices and irrigation work 
  • Provide support at team training facility

Requirements: 
  • Eligible to receive college credit for internship 
  • Available to attend full-stadium events and most corporate/entertainment events 
  • Ability to work event/match days 
  • Experience in sports or events is a plus 
  • Must pass background check
 
Competencies (KSAs): 
  • Coachable, hardworking, multi-tasking, and positive attitude 
  • Ability to effectively interact with staff and clients 
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, etc. 
  • Detail Oriented 
  • Represent D.C. United in a positive image 

This internship is unpaid, any applicants must be able to receive college credit. There may be hourly paid opportunities for D.C. United related events.
