The D.C. United Ticket Sales & Service team is looking for talented, hardworking undergraduate and/or graduate students aspiring to enter the professional sports industry to join us as interns for the fall semester of the 2026 season. D.C. United Grassroots Marketing Interns will be introduced to the revenue-generating side of community-driven marketing, with the goal of launching your career within the marketing & sales industry while fulfilling your internship requisite. As a Grassroots Marketing Intern, you will learn how brands grow revenue from the ground up through authentic community engagement, local outreach, and on-the-ground activations that convert into ticket sales. You will gain hands-on experience driving revenue for D.C. United through the communities and fans that make the club what it is, be included in an intern cohort that willwork on interdepartmental projects and gain real-life marketing & sales experience.
This internship will be completed under a hybrid schedule and be aligned with the DCU Full Time Staffing schedule. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays will be in-person at the D.C. United Offices located at Audi Field. The remaining days of the week, excluding any game days or events, will be virtual. The ability to work matches on site is required to beconsidered for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):
- Attend onboarding/offboarding sessions
- Provide matchday and fan experience support
- Pursue continued career growth
- Willingness to work events both on and offsite
- Represent D.C. United in a positive image
- Participate in D.C. United Internship Cohort
- Provide administrative support such as department emails and coordinating internal meetings
- Assist Grassroots & Fan Experience Coordinator with the planning and execution of community-driven campaignsand local outreach initiatives designed to drive ticket sales and revenue
- Support the identification and development of grassroots partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community groups
- Help coordinate logistics for grassroots activations, street teams, and branded events across the D.C. area
- Lift items up to fifty (50) pounds
- Maximum of twenty-five (25) office hours per week from September 1 - November 20, 2026
- Other duties as assigned
What You'll Learn:
- How to lead and execute grassroots activations that translate community engagement into ticket sales
- Direct-to-consumer sales skills, including generating and closing ticket sales through FEVO and other platforms
- How to support experienced sales reps throughout the sales cycle, from prospecting to close
- How to identify, qualify, and hand off sales leads to maximize conversion
- How grassroots marketing efforts tie directly into the club's broader revenue and business goals
Key qualities include:
- Coachable, hardworking, multi-tasking, and positive attitude
- Ability to effectively interact with staff and clients
- Demonstrate attention to detail
- Strong organizational & communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to work flexible schedule inclusive of evenings and weekends
- Proficient in Spanish is a plus, but not required
- Must be an active college or graduate student and have the ability to receive credit for the internship; college seniors and graduate students are preferred
