Position Summary:
The Columbus Crew is looking to add a Manager of Email and Digital Marketing to join its growing Marketing & Brand Strategy Department. This position will play a key role in overseeing the Columbus Crew's email marketing, website and app management, digital campaign execution, SMS and paid social media.
This highly collaborative role will help facilitate the development and execution of various marketing and branding initiatives across both soccer and business operations (marketing, ticketing, partnerships, business intelligence, community relations, public relations/ communications). The Manager will be responsible for developing and executing plans that align with the organization's strategic goals, while staying on brand and on the cutting edge of latest trends and technologies.
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Marketing. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and creative thinker that excels at project management, is detail oriented and has a passion for collaboratively building marketing plans!
Position Duties:
Digital Marketing & Email
- Works closely with the Senior Manager of Marketing and the Vice President of Marketing and Brand Strategy to develop and implement inclusive email and digital strategies to achieve goals of the organization.
- Responsible for content curation, email development and timely execution of all email campaigns including but not limited to weekly newsletters, ticketing, community, and youth soccer initiatives.
- Ensure quality assurance in email process across entire campaign flow prior to email deployment including: subject line/pre-text, email rendering, link functionality, audience, and internal campaign approval process.
- Assist with developing and managing A/B testing and dynamic content, tracking results, and translating the data into actionable insights/optimization plan.
- Contribute new and innovative ideas toward the growth of the Crew email database from new leads to ways to increase and sustain fan engagement.
- Stay up to date on email marketing best practices including deliverability, mobile responsiveness, and browser compatibility.
- Oversight and execution of SMS campaigns.
- Manage Columbus Crew app, app updates, and management with Yinzcam to create optimal fan experience and increase downloads.
- Manages relationship with social agency to build and monitor marketing campaigns, report on ROAS and provide recommendations to continue driving positive revenue.
- Manage and oversee budget for social media agency and other digital marketing initiatives
Online Promotions and Sweepstakes.
- Plan, manage, build, monitor, report on both Crew internal sweepstakes and Crew corporate partnership sweepstakes. This role involves working with cross-departments including but not limited to Corporate Partnerships, Creative, Business Analytics, Grassroots Marketing and Legal.
- Manage prize fulfillment duties including but not limited to, pulling/contacting winners and prize fulfillment
- Utilize online promotion/gaming site, WIT, to create and oversee promotions, Enter to Wins and other areas to continue to grow the database and capture new fans.
- Works closely with the Senior Manager of Marketing to support digital advertising.
Match Day Responsibilities
- Must be available to attend all home games and certain events. Games and events may occur on nights, weekends and/or holidays.
- Run gameday activations including, but not limited to, Enter to Wins, In game voting through app and web integrations.
- Communicate with gameday staff for any winners necessary to be informed during the match.
- Create and deploy post-match survey emails and assist in data learnings from surveys.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field preferred.
- At least 3-4+ years previous experience working in a sports team or brand/ agency environment.
- Overall knowledge of a vast array of digital and social media platforms.
- Proven experience with email marketing technology (experience with Eloqua a plus).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Proficiency in programs such as Adobe InDesign preferred; proficiency in Adobe Photoshop a plus.
- Experience in strategic development and execution of successful integrated marketing campaigns.
- A strong understanding of paid media, including digital and social media.
- Passion for sports and global knowledge of the sport of soccer and MLS not required, but a plus.
- Ability to work all matches, home and away, and some nights and weekends (note: this role is not required to travel to all away matches but rather work them remote through MLS Season Pass broadcast).
