Job Overview:
Chicago Fire Football Club is seeking a dedicated Athletic Trainer to join our team! Reporting to the Head of Physical Performance & Player Wellness (Academy & Fire II) and the Head of Medical, this individual will work closely with a wider multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal player care under the direction and supervision of Chief Medical Officer. The ideal candidate should be motivated to support developing soccer players, possessing a strong understanding of sports-related injuries and treatments. A successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide daily medical coverage to selected Academy teams (U13 – U18) and support the MLSNP team as needed
- Act as a Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of players. Health care includes but is not limited to first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals
- Setup, breakdown, field coverage, and clinic coverage as assigned
- Maintain a complete and up-to-date roster of player health documents
- Attend medical meetings to discuss reports, player progress, etc
- Work in an interdisciplinary manner, being proactive with player care and holistic development
- Play an active role in creating a professional environment within the Academy through player interactions, maintaining the standard, and driving club culture
- Provide reports and communicate player updates to authorized personnel, parents, and Safeguard committee members
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches, other team personnel
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of athletic training clinic daily
- Travel and ability to work weekends/flexible hours required
- Comply with OSHA standards regarding blood borne pathogens
- Order, maintain, and manage inventory of supplies and clinical equipment
- Keep athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean, and organized
- Organize physical examinations as required by league regulations
- Collaborate with Strength & Conditioning/Performance on data collected for athlete health & safety measure
- Comply with all league medical policies & protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, or related health care field
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills
- CPR Certification for Health Care Provider
- NATABOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer
- In good standing with NATABOC
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, including all home games (or other work events) that fall on nights, weekends, and/or holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy or related health care field from a CAATE recognized school and valid state license
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a certified Athletic Trainer
- Preferred Certification: CSCS, PES, LMT
- Strong knowledge and experience in Soccer
Compensation:
- This role offers a salary range of $55,000.00 - $60,000.00
- The final salary is determined by carefully considering the applicant's background, experience, and qualifications. Base pay may vary significantly based on geographic location, job-specific knowledge, skills, and overall experience. This role is classified as Full-time, exempt
- This role is bonus eligible based on club wide goals
