About Boston Legacy FC
Boston Legacy FC (the “Club”) is Boston’s new professional women’s soccer team, set to begin play in the National Women’s Soccer League in 2026. We are dedicated to building a championship-caliber organization on and off the pitch. We are passionate about advancing women’s sports, investing in our local community, and redefining the future of professional soccer. As a startup club with a big vision, we’re building from the ground up—and looking for entrepreneurial team members who want to be part of something extraordinary.

The Role
The Strength & Conditioning Coach plays a key role in driving the physical performance and long-term athletic development of players. This position is responsible for designing and delivering individualized strength and corrective programs that reflect each athlete’s unique needs, goals, and stage of development. Leveraging data and technology, the coach integrates objective insights into daily decision-making to ensure training is both evidence-informed and adaptable to the demands of the season.

Working collaboratively with the broader performance and medical teams, the Strength & Conditioning Coach contributes to a unified approach that optimizes player readiness, reduces injury risk, and supports efficient return-to-play processes. By fostering a dynamic and athlete-centered training environment, this role ensures that players are consistently challenged, supported, and prepared to perform at their highest level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement individualized strength and conditioning programs informed by testing data, training load, and seasonal periodization.
  • Lead all team and individual strength and conditioning sessions, ensuring alignment with the club’s performance methodology and long-term player development model.
  • Utilize technology to monitor and enhance key performance qualities such as acceleration, maximal speed, and movement efficiency.
  • Adapt training programs daily to meet athletes where they are at — considering readiness, recovery, and individual needs.
  • Develop training plans with long-term athletic development in mind, ensuring athletes are continually evolving across physical, technical, and performance domains.
  • Collaborate closely with the performance and medical staff to integrate strength, rehabilitation, and return-to-play processes into a unified player management strategy.
  • Support and contribute to the design and implementation of individualized pre-training activation and recovery sessions aligned with team periodization.
  • Conduct on-field performance coaching, including position-specific speed, agility, and movement sessions, as well as return-to-play reconditioning.
  • Manage all aspects of the weight room environment, including equipment setup, maintenance, and safety standards.
  • Lead or assist in conducting comprehensive physical testing protocols to monitor player strength, power, and fitness progress throughout the season.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze performance data, transforming insights into actionable programming adjustments.
  • Use team and individual performance data to identify areas for improvement and guide decisions around training load, recovery, and injury prevention.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data systems and athlete monitoring technologies, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all platforms.
  • Maintain detailed records of training loads, testing results, and player performance profiles to support longitudinal tracking and reporting.
  • Stay current with the latest research, trends, and best practices in strength and conditioning, sport science, and athlete development.
  • Foster an engaging and professional training environment that promotes athlete accountability, education, and growth.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support the broader goals of the Performance Department and the club’s mission.

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent certification through a recognized governing body (e.g., UKSCA, ASCA, NASM-PES) required.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience designing and delivering individualized strength and conditioning programs in a professional or collegiate setting.
  • Soccer experience preferred
  • Experience working within an integrated, multi-disciplinary high-performance department that includes medical, sport science, and coaching staff.
  • Proven ability to use data and technology to inform programming and monitor performance — experience with systems such as Catapult GPS, ForceDecks, VALD Performance, Output Sports, or equivalent athlete management systems strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing and adjusting programs dynamically based on athlete readiness, training load, and recovery data.
  • Understanding of long-term athletic development principles and the ability to plan training progressions that align with both short- and long-term performance goals.
  • Strong practical coaching skills with the ability to engage and motivate athletes across different performance levels and personalities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute effectively to an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to analyze information, think critically, and provide innovative, evidence-informed solutions to performance challenges.
  • Commitment to continual professional development and staying current with advancements in strength and conditioning, sports science, and performance training.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel, based on team and competition schedules.
