JOB SUMMARY:
The Resident Advisor (RA) serves as an educator, counselor, administrator, role model and team member for the Barça residents. The RA works to create and maintain a healthy environment for the academic, athletic and personal growth of the students. The nature of the position is such that its responsibilities are determined not so much by a time clock or a calendar, but by the needs of residents. Some periods will require more time than average, and responsibilities will arise that cannot always be anticipated and scheduled. The RA position, by its very nature, requires an individual who is acutely sensitive to the needs of students; can be flexible regarding time demands, is willing and able to relate to a wide variety of
individuals; is knowledgeable about the student-athlete experience, can perform essential administrative tasks, and has a genuine desire to be of service to others. The RA’s must work together as a team to ensure consistency of policies, procedures, and fluidity of the schedule, to ensure that each RA has their respective time off. The RA staff must use their influential position to positively impact the student athletes, their families and be a positive reflection of our organization at all times despite personal bias. This job includes a dual role responsibility of an entry level Volunteer Assistant GK Position. As a Volunteer Assistant Goalkeeper Coach, the individual will have the opportunity to assist the Head of Goalkeeping in the development, mentorship, and technical training of academy goalkeepers in line with the Barça methodology.

The RA will be provided a room on property for overnight shifts, and meals will be provided during all scheduled shifts, plus wages and benefits.

Main Responsibilities
  • RA may reside on site. RA will be expected to assume some “RA-On Duty” night and weekend shifts.
  • The RA On Duty is expected to be on property and conduct Room Checks -- 9pm on weekdays, and 10pm on weekends.
  • Organize extracurricular activities for residents. Coordinate sign ups and encourage positive participation.
  • Assists the academy on some occasions with assigned operational tasks. Including but not limited to laundry, cleaning, management of student-athletes in the locker-room. Assist with the cleanliness maintenance of the locker-room, dorms, PC, equipment, etc.
  • Supervise assigned service hours and mandatory study hall sessions.
  • Supervise the players cleaning up after eating in the dining lounge.
  • Be on-call for impromptu driving as assigned (needs to go to the doctor, dentist, excursions, etc.)
  • Maintains communication with the transportation manager and prepares accurate passenger lists for Walmart trips, excursions, tournaments, etc.
  • Actively participates in the development of weekly schedules, itineraries and calendars designed to coordinate to the needs of residents.
  • Respond promptly to texts, calls and email, especially from the Director of Residence Life, managers, staff, students and parents. Update log accurately.
  • Complete all paperwork, recaps and assignments as requested and submit them in a timely manner.

Assistant Goalkeeper Coach (Volunteer) Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head of Academy Goalkeeping in delivering technical and tactical goalkeeper training sessions.
  • Support matchday warm-ups, analysis, and post-match feedback.
  • Help manage training equipment and ensure readiness of goalkeeping areas.
  • Foster a positive and competitive training environment aligned with the Barça philosophy.
  • Observe, evaluate, and support the development of individual goalkeeper performance.
  • Participate in team meetings, video sessions, and individual player reviews as needed.
  • Uphold a high standard of professionalism, communication, and coaching integrity.

Programming & Community Development
  • Encourage student involvement in the community.
  • Be regularly available and accessible to address resident needs or concerns.
  • Perform as a mediator in conflicts among residents and staff.
  • Work cooperatively with the Director of Residence Life, Residence Life Managers and residents to ensure an environment that displays respect for the rights and privacy of others and promotes consideration of individual needs in a group living environment.
  • Respond appropriately to students in crisis--physical, emotional, through assessment, action, or referral to another RA, Manager on Duty and follow-up with the Director of Residence Life.
  • Initiates programs and activities that address the social and educational aspects of the residents’ lives. Considers the needs of a diverse population when developing programs.

Discipline
  • Ensure that student athletes are a positive reflection of our core values on and off the pitch.
  • Communicates policies and the rationale behind them to residents.
  • Confront residents who break a rule and take appropriate action.
  • Cooperate with and support other staff members.
  • Provide accurate recaps, update logs and attend discipline conferences as required.

Role Modeling & Attitude
  • Lead by example and influence, promote and encourage responsible behavior among residents.
  • Act as a positive role model both for fellow staff members and residents by not participating in questionable or unethical behavior.
  • Maintains confidentiality with staff-related or student matters, including incident documentation, health issues and disciplinary status of residents.
  • Treats fellow employees and students with courtesy and respect.
  • Assesses needs and interests of residents by interacting with them on a regular basis.
  • Has a positive attitude about resident life, and works to motivate students in both their academic, athletic and personal lives.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of counseling particularly as they apply to young adults.
  • Knowledge of data collection and report preparation and presentation.
  • Knowledge of planning, organizing, implementing and coordinating student programs and services.
  • Skill in administering student discipline and in handling crisis situations.
  • Skill in communications, interpersonal skills in interaction with students, teachers, parents and members of the Francisco Grande team.
  • Skill in mentoring and providing leadership to students.
  • Skill in organizing a variety of activities and events for students.
  • Skill in recognizing, analyzing and developing solutions to a variety of problem situations as they relate to residency students.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Computer proficient in Excel, Word and Google Drive.
  • Knowledge of sports is essential.
  • In addition to items noted above, ability to walk the property, climb stairs, ability to stand, ability to lift 50 lbs.

Education:
  • College degree preferred
  • Clean Driver’s License is required.

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with youth or student-athletes in a residential, camp, or school setting.
  • Goalkeeper coaching experience and/or playing background at a competitive level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with young athletes.
  • Passion for player development and youth mentorship.
  • Flexible schedule with availability during evenings and weekends.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • UEFA, USSF, or equivalent coaching certification preferred (not required for volunteer role).
  • Must pass a background check and meet residential employment requirements.

This position meets the Fair Labor Standards (FLSA) Act for Exempt Employee category, which includes a complete exemption from its minimum wage and overtime requirements for employees employed in a bona fide executive, administrative, professional, or outside sales capacity.
