Barça Residency Academy USA is FC Barcelona’s official soccer residency academy in the U.S.A., where players from all around the country and abroad live, attend school, train, and compete at the highest level for 11 months of the year.

Barça Residency Academy USA has partnered with FC Barcelona, one of the premier and most renowned soccer clubs in the world, and Grande Sports Academy, one of the most successful youth soccer development academies in the United States competing in the MLS Next Academy League. Barça Residency Academy USA, located in Casa Grande, AZ, is the home of the most talented 13-19-year-old players and sits atop the FC Barcelona U.S. youth player development pyramid. Barça Residency Academy USA is the only MLS Next League full-time residential program in the U.S. partnered with a top international professional team. It will compete in the U19, U17, U16 & U15 age groups. No other top-level international professional team has brought their highest-level youth coaches to the U.S. to live full-time on campus and train young talented players year-round. 

The Athletic Trainer will oversee the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries and ensure the highest level of health care is provided to the Barça Residency Academy USA.

Salary is with room/board included in the offer (On-site AT).

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the prevention, assessment, and treatment of athletic-related injuries 
  • Be adept at working with rehabilitation of injuries
  • Work with the team physician and physical therapist to determine proper rehabilitation of injured athletes
  • Collaborate with Strength & Conditioning staff to develop a proper return to play protocols 
  • Be in attendance and provide medical coverage for all home games, scrimmages, and training
  • Travel with Academy and Pre-Academy teams to away games (providing on-field and off-field medical care)
  • Schedule medical appointments for athletes as needed
  • Ensure seamless flow of communication between coaches, parents, players, and physicians
  • Apply appropriate therapeutic modality treatment as necessary
  • Follow Emergency Action Plans for all venues and manages emergency situations in the event of acute life-threatening or non-life-threatening injuries
  • Manage training room schedule for all Academy athletes
  • Provide medical coverage for other sporting events at the Academy as needed
  • Organize and complete pre-participation physical exams for all  Academy Athletes
  • Conducted baseline and post-concussion protocols of student-athletes (Impact and SCAT6)
  • Maintain adequate medical records on all injuries and rehabilitation procedures (Healthy Roster)
  • Successfully setup fields and Performance Center for games and training to provide a safe environment for athletes
  • Acquisition and management of inventory
  • Oversee the athletic training student aide program  
  • Stay current on new developments in the field of athletic training, sports performance and participate in professional growth activities and courses
  • Set and maintain appropriate standards for student behavior and exemplify and promote high ethical standards

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s, or Masters Degree in Athletic Training
  • Relevant experience
  • Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification
  • Current Arizona Licensure or Eligibility for Arizona Licensure Required
  • CPR, AED Certified
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel
  • Calm and confident demeanor, strong ability to develop rapport with both youth and adults over phone and email

  • Experience working with basic word processing (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel)
  • Has a valid driver's license
  • Ability to walk the property, climb up and downstairs, be able to use all body parts, lift up to 50 lbs, and to be outdoors in all climates.
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
