Austin FC joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as the League’s 27th club in January 2019.  Austin FC officially began competing in MLS in April 2021, and in the 2025 season qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs while also reaching and hosting the final of the U.S. Open Cup. Austin FC plays its home matches at Q2 Stadium, a 100% privately financed, state-of-the-art stadium which earned certification as a zero-waste venue in 2024. Austin FC sold out all 88 MLS home matches it played at Q2 Stadium during its first five seasons in the league, including three home MLS Cup Playoff matches.

Austin FC is actively seeking a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant who will be responsible for maintaining General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization.  This position will work with different department leaders to ensure timely and accurate reporting for multiple entities.

In this role, you will assist the Senior Director of Finance in various aspects of the day-to-day General Ledger accounting including compiling financial information, processing journal entries, and reconciling reports. The Staff Accountant will also code invoices, summarize financial transactions, and communicate with other departments to ensure financials meet operational needs. You will assist in preparation of deliverables for the annual external audit and any other ad hoc projects as requested by the Senior Director of Finance.

The position is based in Austin, TX and the role will be in-person at Austin FC’s business office.

 You Will:
·        Manage accounts payable for multiple entities, including maintaining vendor records and processing invoices submitted by departments; and
·        Partner with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate coding of expenses and vendor information; and 
·        Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies and maintain up-to-date account status; and 
·        Maintain accurate vendor files and assist with annual 1099 preparation; and
·        Support month end close processes, including bank and account reconciliations; and
·        Prepare and post monthly journal entries including company credit cards, and other recurring transactions; and
·        Assist with daily banking activities and cash management needs; and
·        Prepare documentation for external auditors and support the annual audit process; and
·        Provide accurate and timely accounting help to the Senior Director of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, and other leaders; and 
·        Other duties as assigned.

You Have:
·        A bachelor’s degree (required), Accounting or Finance major preferred
·        Strong communication skills, both orally and written, with diverse audiences
·        The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
·        Proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically strong Excel/spreadsheet skills, knowledge of current technologies and commitment to remaining up to date with industry best practices
·        Experience with Netsuite and/or Stampli is a plus
·        Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
·        English language proficiency is essential and Spanish or bilingual skills are a plus
