Austin FC joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as the League’s 27th club in January 2019. Austin FC officially began competing in MLS in April 2021, and in the 2025 season qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs while also reaching and hosting the final of the U.S. Open Cup. Austin FC plays its home matches at Q2 Stadium, a 100% privately financed, state-of-the-art stadium which earned certification as a zero-waste venue in 2024. Austin FC sold out all 88 MLS home matches it played in Q2 Stadium during its first five seasons in the league, including three home MLS Cup Playoff matches.
Austin FC is actively seeking a driven and detailed in-house counsel. This position will play a key role in the Austin FC Legal Department, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel. The Legal Department performs integral administrative responsibilities in all aspects of the Club, on both business operations and sporting operations side and in working with ownership.
This role is an in-person position located at the Austin FC business offices in Austin, TX.

You Will:
· Assist in drafting legal documents and templates; and
· Conduct legal research and analysis and provide advice in collaboration with the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel; and
· Work collaboratively with various departments in need of support as legal issues arise in connection with sponsorships, ticket sales, marketing, community impact, stadium and training facility operations, front-office operations, player and personnel issues, intellectual-property protection, various transactions and disputes; and
· Manage risk, including working with the club’s insurance broker on policy renewals and compliance and claims; and
· Provide governance and legal support to Austin FC’s philanthropic arm, 4ATX Foundation; and
· Work with Major League Soccer on compliance with league rules and other matters.
You Have:
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
· Bar admission in Texas
· 2+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
· Superior written communication skills, with demonstrated experience in drafting contracts, in particular transactions involving licensing, media, production, events, employment, and data privacy
· High proficiency and resourcefulness in conducting legal research
· Outstanding work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
· Professionalism and integrity with commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and compliance
· Ability to make timely, nuanced recommendations for business decisions based on reasoned legal analysis
· Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
· English-language fluency is essential, Spanish-language business proficiency is a plus, and additional languages an asset
· Knowledge and interest in the sport of soccer
