Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote the activities of USA Swimming business units and departments including: Commercial, Sport Development, Safe Sport, Diversity & Inclusion and the USA Swimming Foundation 
  • Promote organization’s thought-leadership including media placements and speaking engagements 
  • Develop and oversee a process for enhancing communications with Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) and teams and making communication more consistent and targeted 
  • Promote member-targeted programs and services 
  • Generate sports business trade publicity (ex. leaders, marketing, sponsorship, licensing)
  • Provide support at key USA Swimming national events
  • Promote key members, volunteers, staff and programs within respective industries and submit for respective industry awards
  • Manage publicity of USA Swimming multicultural partnerships, such as Sigma Gamma Rho and Swim 1922 
  • Develop strategy to message diversity initiatives  
Knowledge, skill, ability, educational/training, experience, working environment, physical activities:
  • Self-starter with high level of initiative and creativity as well as willingness to “take the ball” 
  • Experience working in Public Relations in an agency or sports organization setting for a minimum of 4-6 years 
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Public Relations or Communications
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to adhere to AP style and USA Swimming style manuals
  • Solid background and knowledge of social media trends 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time 
  • Ability to work independently to produce high quality work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work productively in fast-paced environment
  • Team player with a consistently professional demeanor
  • Swimming/sports experience preferred
