USA Fencing is the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of fencing in the United States. Its mission is to grow and promote the sport of fencing in the United States, honor its rich traditions and to achieve sustained international success.

Position Overview:
Responsible for the overall development and delivery of USA Fencing’s education programs to include SafeSport, coach and referee education and the American Development Model.  The Director of Education reports to the Sr. Director of Sports Operations.

Primary Duties:
  • Refine and further develop the strategic vision and planning for USA Fencing’s education programs, including the formation of strategic objectives for all education initiatives.
  • Network with leaders in sports education to better understand and be aware of the latest innovations in curriculum and delivery methods.
  • Work with the SafeSport Coordinator, serving as the secondary contact for SafeSport education, compliance and reporting.
  • Liaise with the United States Fencing Coaches Association and other individuals or groups providing coaching education to provide mutually beneficial opportunities for coaches.
  • Work with the USA Fencing Referees’ Commission to further develop education opportunities for referees at all levels – local, regional and national.
  • Cultivate relationships with the fencing family and non-fencing partners in education.
  • Attend meetings and events to educate the fencing community about USA Fencing education programs, including SafeSport and other trainings.
  • Coordinate and streamline education efforts across all USA Fencing departments to promote opportunities in education.
  • Implement recognition programs for education and training programs.
  • Manage education department budgets and initiatives

Education and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, sports science, sports management or related field, master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 – 8 years’ experience in  developing education programs, coaching, sports performance, program-development or management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Exemplary organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with volunteers
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential or sensitive information
  • Creative thinker and innovator
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word Suite and databases

Other Information:
  • Must have ability to travel and work weekend hours
  • The USA Fencing National Office is located in Colorado Springs, CO.
