Position Description 
Working with the High Performance Director, Chief Medical Officer, and Sports Medicine Senior Manager, contribute to the development and delivery of world class athletic training support to the Men’s National Team (MNT).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide all athletic training and assist with medical support for the MNT as requested by the High Performance Director, Chief Medical Officer and Sports Medicine Senior Manager
  • Travel extensively with MNT to training camps and games both within the U.S.A and abroad
  • Responsible for the design and delivery of the USSF standards in injury prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation to all MNT players
  • Responsible for evaluating and referring major injuries and/or illnesses to the team physician, consultants, hospitals or specialists as appropriate
  • Responsible for tracking and developing individual programs with all MNT players both within U.S. Soccer camps and within their club environments
  • Ensure all medical data collected, stored and up to date correctly in line with USSF standards, including but not limited to; nature of injury or illness, treatment given, date, insurance, injured reserve, injury protection, medical authorization, medical information release, physical examinations, medical referrals, surgical reports and x-ray/MRI information
  • Ensure all data collected is disseminated to all required staff and players in line with the USSF standards and time frame
  • Work closely with the High Performance staff to ensure the USSF standards in all testing, screening, monitoring and return to play protocols are optimized, delivered and recorded
  • Build strong relationship with MNT clubs home and abroad to ensure the bi-lateral sharing of data and information is provided pre and post camp
  • Supervise and support other medical staff within MNT training camps
  • Develop and support all athletic training practice across the USSF

Other duties as required or assigned.  May include:          
  • Help support and develop internal and external continued professional development for staff within the federation and practitioners within clubs
  • Contribute to the education of staff and coaches within the federation and those enrolled onto federation specific qualification pathways

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field 
  • NATABOC certified athletic trainer (ATC)
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) certification
  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience working within Soccer and/or other elite sport 
  • Member of NATA or similar governing body
  • Able and willing to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed

Desired Qualifications:   
  • Advanced education in manual therapy and rehabilitation techniques 
  • Proficient in managing and executing emergency medical care best practice
  • Advanced certification/experience in applied movement analysis and biomechanics (AFS)
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and athletes having a range of backgrounds, interests, and perspectives 
  • Excellent organizational, data collection, planning and leadership skills 
  • Experience working in collaboration with coaches and other support staff
  • Proven track record in delivering world class medical provision to professional athletes 
  • Vast knowledge and experience of medical modalities, equipment, and technology 
  • Proficient on computer with software such as Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, HealtheAthlete, STATsport 
  • Academic Publications
