Position Description
 
Reporting into the General Counsel, the Counsel will support the Federation in managing the legal affairs of the United States Soccer Federation, Inc. 
 
Primary Responsibilities 
  • Representing U.S. Soccer in its contractual negotiations, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating licenses, consulting agreements, master services agreements, and the like
  • Identifying risks relating to business activities and potential solutions therefor; raising business’ awareness of legal issues and ensuring early legal involvement
  • Making decisions independently within a broad framework
  • Providing legal support for commercial initiatives and activities
  • Guiding, counseling and supporting the work of more junior colleagues (e.g. paralegals and support staff)
 
Minimum Qualifications 
  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working as an attorney; preferably in AmLaw 100 firm
  • Experience with transactional legal work in commercial transactions
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and travel as job duties demand
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and travel as job duties demand 
 
Desired Qualifications 
  • Experience with contracts and contract management preferred 
  • Ability to manage contract database required
  • Ability to work independently, while coordinating and communicating with other members of the legal/compliance team throughout the process
