Under the general direction of the Director of Software Development, the Software Developer Level I is directly responsible for the maintenance and creation of software and to make the tasks of adding, updating, deleting, and displaying information easy and user friendly. The Software Developer Level I designs scalable architecture to meet these goals both now and in the future and builds projects to specification and timescale. In order to better perform the job duties, the Software Developer Level I must develop data analysis capabilities, establish developer-client relationships, develop the capability to manage portions of projects assigned and effectively communicate status of projects to a direct supervisor daily. It is the responsibility of the position to document all work carried out.

As a member of the IT department, the Software Developer Level I shares in some of the daily responsibilities of the department as a whole. These duties involve, but are not limited to, performing web updates, and helping staff with computing issues when other members of the department are unavailable.


  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is strongly preferred. Experience may substitute for education. 
  • Manual and machine skills:  Typing 20 wpm
  • Computer & Software Proficiency:  Windows OS, VB.NET, C#, MVC, SQL Server, and Microsoft Office knowledge required
  • Hours of work: Working hours from 8:30am to 5pm with overtime as needed
  • Physical Requirements: ability to sit for long periods of time. 
  • Mental Requirements: analytical or problem solving skills, ability to maintain performance under pressure, ability to set priorities and maintain effectiveness at varying tasks, ability to meet deadlines, ability to be involved with every aspect of the programming life-cycle
