The Director of Volleyball Operations (DOVO) is a key leadership role responsible for managing all operational aspects of the professional volleyball team’s athletic and logistical needs. This position plays a vital role in creating a high-performance environment, ensuring seamless coordination between players, coaching staff, and the front office. The DOVO must demonstrate professionalism, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to excellence both during the season and in the off-season.
Key Responsibilities
In-Season Operations:
Team Logistics
• Oversee daily team operations including practice schedules, travel coordination, ground transportation, meals, and equipment logistics.
• Serve as the primary liaison among players, coaches, medical staff, and team executives
Match Day Coordination
• Manage all home and away match logistics, including locker room setup, venue access, warm-up protocols, and post-match logistics
• Work with league officials and event staff to ensure compliance with match-day procedures and facility requirements.
• Manage all housing, car rental, per diem distribution, expense submission management, etc.
• Assist with onboarding, relocation, and additional off-court logistics for athletes as identified and needed
• Maintain accurate player records, recruiting data bases, contract management, and team operational documentation
Season & Year-Round Responsibilities:
• Track player contracts and support league-related paperwork and deadlines.
Team Services & Vendor Management
• Lead or assist in the negotiation and acquisition of essential team services, including but not limited to housing providers, transportation partners, catering, medical/training providers, and practice facilities.
• Coordinate with team and league staff to plan preseason activities, training camps, and offseason programming.
Budget & Equipment Oversight
• Develop and manage the annual operations budget in coordination with the front office.
• Maintain inventory and oversee procurement for all equipment and apparel.
Compliance & Administration
• Ensure compliance with all league regulations and protocols.
• Coordinate and execute community facing initiatives such youth volleyball camps, club and youth volleyball relations, and public promotional events.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in sports management, business, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3-years experience in sports operations, preferably in volleyball, professional sports, or NCAA Division I athletics.
• Proven ability to manage complex logistics and high-pressure environments.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Availability to travel and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
