Position Overview
We’re hiring a manager, PR & Communications to build and run our earned-media engine. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to build a sports franchise from the ground up, creating authentic connections with the Dallas community while establishing our team as a premier destination for world-class women's professional volleyball. You’ll own our external voice, lead all press operations, and partner closely with Marketing, Content, and Team Operations to tell athlete-first stories that make Dallas the most talked-about team in the league.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own PR strategy & calendar: Create a year-round communications plan across roster moves, community initiatives, sponsors, ticketing, and gameday.
  • Media relations: Build and maintain press lists; cultivate relationships with DFW media, volleyball outlets, and national sports/business press; proactively pitch features.
  • Press operations: Draft and distribute releases, advisories, and statements; manage approvals.
  • Media Day: Plan, coordinate and partner with Marketing & Operations team to set up single event to capture photos, video and graphics that can be used throughout the year for website, social, advertising, partnerships, broadcasts and in-arena entertainment.
  • Statistics and Information: Create, maintain and update game notes for each match, which will be a comprehensive single information source point for all media, broadcast, suite and season ticket holders. 
  • Press conferences & mixed zone: Manage coach and player availability for both pre- and post-game media and press responsibilities, and partner with Operations to secure areas within facility for interviews to take place.
  • Gameday comms lead: Oversee credentialing, press seating, stat distribution, interview requests, and real-time information flow to media and broadcast partners.
  • League & broadcast liaison: Coordinate with MLV on league announcements, policies, and broadcast needs; ensure message alignment.
  • Crisis & issues management: Build and maintain a rapid-response playbook; advise executives, coaches, and players; track sentiment and respond quickly.
  • Storytelling & editorial: Develop key messages, talking points, Q&As, and bios; coach spokespeople; ensure voice consistency across web, email, and social.
  • Media center & assets: Stand up and maintain an online media hub (logos, b-roll, headshots, style guide, fact sheets, media guide).
  • Website publishing and management: Own all updates to team website, including news stories, game recaps, features, roster updates, photo and media library, staffing, and statistics.
  • Measurement: Set KPIs; track coverage, share of voice, and sentiment; deliver concise weekly and post-event reports (Cision/Meltwater, TV/Radio monitoring, Google Alerts).
  • Community & CSR comms: Elevate youth, grassroots, and partner stories; support clinics, school visits, and local initiatives.
  • Vendor management: Oversee freelancers/photogs; manage budgets and SOWs.

Required Qualifications
  • 2-3+ years in PR/communications (sports, live events, entertainment, or newsrooms strongly preferred).
  • A standout portfolio of press releases, feature placements, and successful media moments.
  • Deep media instincts and impeccable writing/editing (AP style, tight headlines, crisp quotes).
  • Proven success running press rooms or major events under tight deadlines (nights/weekends required in-season).
  • Relationship-builder who’s proactive, organized, and unflappable when plans change.
  • Tools: Google Workspace, basic CMS, social basics; familiarity with volleyball stats/workflows a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, PR, or relevant experience.
  • Nice-to-haves: On-camera or spokesperson training experience; crisis comms background; experience with broadcast partners.

Team & Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Team President & CEO and collaborates closely with Corporate Partnerships, Operations, and Player Personnel departments. The role includes budget management responsibility and potential for team growth as franchise develops.

Location & Expectations
Position based in Dallas, Texas with regular travel throughout the DFW metroplex for events, media appearances, and community engagement. Some national travel for league meetings and industry conferences. Evening and weekend work required during season for games and events.
