SUMMARY
The Las Vegas Desert Dogs were launched on June 21, 2021, as the 15th team in the National Lacrosse League beginning play in December 2022. The team is co-owned by Wayne Gretzky, Dustin Johnson, Steve Nash, and Joe Tsai. The team plays at Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson playing 9 home and 9 away games each season.

The Las Vegas Desert Dogs are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marketing & Social Media Manager to join our dynamic team. This role demands a passionate individual with a deep love for lacrosse and an understanding of the fast-paced, high-pressure environment that comes with working in professional sports. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, creativity, and a proven ability to develop innovative social media campaigns that resonate with fans and elevate the Las Vegas Desert Dogs both online and in the city of Las Vegas.

 JOB DESCRIPTION – WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and Implement Social Media Strategy: Create comprehensive plans to increase brand awareness, fan engagement, and community growth across all digital platforms. Plan and maintain a content calendar to ensure a steady flow of relevant content aligned with team events and season calendar.
  • Content Creation and Curation: Oversee the production of high-quality, engaging content including graphics, videos, highlights, behind-the-scenes footage, and fan-generated content.
  • Brand Voice & Messaging: Maintain a consistent and authentic tone of voice across all platforms that aligns with the team’s identity, values, and branding guidelines.
  • Fan Engagement: Actively monitor, respond to, and interact with fans, influencers, and followers to foster a vibrant online community.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics and campaigns to evaluate success and inform future strategies.
  • Email Marketing Execution: Design and build all marketing emails as directed by VP of Marketing. Familiar with Hubspot a plus.
  • Campaign Planning & Execution: Design and execute special social campaigns around key events such as special theme nights, games, playoffs, signings, community initiatives, and milestones.
  • Collaboration with Internal Departments: Coordinate with marketing, sponsorships, ticketing, community relations, merchandise and more to ensure cohesive messaging, social/email obligations are met and campaign execution.
  • Innovation & Experimentation: Test new social media features, formats, and tools to continually improve engagement and visibility.
  • Media: Concept and write all press releases as assigned.  Update and maintain game notes for each game.  Attend media appearances as needed with players and assist players with messaging points for each appearance. 
  • Travel: Travel to at least 5-7 away games to create and post real-time social media on the road, at practice and during the games.
  • Photography: Manage photo library, organize and archive photos after each game. Create shot lists for professional photographers and manage their work during home games. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE – WHO YOU ARE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, sport management, or a related field or equivocal experience
  • 3 – 5 years experience in sports, social media, and/or agency/entertainment preferred or combination of.
  • High proficiency in both written and verbal communications (public speaking and presentation)
  • Excellent relationship builder with interpersonal skills
  • Strong time-management, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Highly motivated, with strong work ethic and desire to be successful
  • Digital literacy, including experience with YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram, Tik Tok, Linkedin, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, powerpoint)
  • Ability to learn and master new software programs including CRM platform (HubSpot), Sprout Social, Sakari (SMS), WSC video
  • Video Editing and Graphic Design skills a plus. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
 
Travel Requirements 
May be required to travel to up to 9 away games & training camps. (<20% travel); trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay for one or more nights.

Work Environment 
Works primarily in an office environment but will be required to attend all 9 home games and upon request other events on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
