The FireWolves are seeking a motivated individual to serve as the back-up for the team mascot and assist in the coordination and execution of community events as part of the FireWolves organization. As the back-up mascot, you will be responsible for bringing Alphie to life through upbeat, outgoing, and positive interactions. The ability to interact with all types of people is a vital component to the FireWolves’ success during community events, in-game entertainment, and external activities. Additionally, this individual should also seek to coordinate community events as a way of promoting the FireWolves brand throughout the Durham Region.

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary backup mascot performer during FireWolves home games and/or community appearances
  • Assist the mascot performer with in-arena navigation, crowd interaction, and general support on gamedays and during community appearances
  • Perform as an actor in planned gameday skits and mascot storylines through physical acting, comedic timing, and crowd interaction 
  • Ensure all mascot-related in-game promotions are executed according to the run-of-show
  • Help clean, maintain, and preserve the mascot costume, outfits, and props after every use and report any costume-related issues to the Manager of Game Presentation
  • Uphold the integrity and consistency of the mascot character at all times, on and off the field
  • Represent the FireWolves brand with enthusiasm, professionalism, and positivity during all fan-facing interactions.
  • Support FireWolves staff with pregame setup, in-game operations, and postgame teardown
  • Prepare, transport, and manage mascot props and promotional materials as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
  • Must be accessible year-round for all FireWolves home games and scheduled community appearances
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including working game nights, weekends, holidays, and special event nights as needed
  • Physical stamina to perform in the mascot costume for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform basic dance and gymnastics techniques
  • Outstanding level of creativity, energy, spontaneity, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Comfortable in front of large crowds 
  • Previous mascot experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of lacrosse preferred
 
Requirements
  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Must be local to the Durham Region (Ontario, Canada)
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen
  • Must be a high school graduate (or equivalent)
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds at a time
  • Knowledge about Live Event Production preferred
