The Albany FireWolves are currently seeking motivated individuals for our 2025-26 Public Relations and Communications Internship Program. The ideal candidate for this internship is organized, creative, and capable of being adaptable among tight deadlines. A qualified candidate should be able to work independently and within a team, handle multiple projects at once, and achieve objectives set forth by their supervisor and themselves. Candidates selected for a role within the organization will be given the opportunity to have a hand in multiple aspects of executing an Albany FireWolves home game and must be reliable for developing motion graphics, videos, and other media assets to be used throughout the FireWolves season.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work with the FireWolves Communications department to assist in various game-night responsibilities and tasks
- Assist with the creation of press releases, media alerts, game notes, pregame matchup previews, postgame recaps, and other press related material
- Promote the team in any way possible in the local community while working closely with the sales department to push team initiatives.
- Assist in scheduling news appearances for players, coaches and staff members on radio, television, newspapers, web blogs, and podcasts
- Write and update bios for players/coaches throughout the season as transactions are made
- Set up the press box and post-game media room for game days and capture audio from post-game interviews
- Serve as an additional contact between the team/front office and the league, opposing team lacrosse operations
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications, Media, & Content Production
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
- Must be available to work all Albany FireWolves home games throughout the season
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional, team-oriented mindset
- Highly organized with the ability to manage time effectively and juggle multiple priorities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Photoshop
- Basic knowledge of WordPress is a plus
- Familiarity with lacrosse and the flow of the game
- Flexible and able to adapt in high-pressure situations
- A positive attitude and a willingness to actively engage and interact with players, coaches, and other media personnel
- Passion for sports and a desire to learn about the sports industry
