Position Summary
The Equipment & Logistics Intern supports the day-to-day operations of the Orlando Valkyries by assisting with team equipment, practice and game-day setup, logistics, and organizational tasks. This hands-on internship provides behind-the-scenes experience in professional sports operations, offering exposure to team logistics, athlete support, and event execution in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal intern is reliable, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working in an active, team-centered setting.
Key Responsibilities
Practice & Team Operations Support
- Assist with setup and breakdown of practice equipment including nets, ball carts, and training gear
- Support coaches and players during practices with ball retrieval and equipment adjustments
- Help ensure all practice areas are prepared and reset according to facility guidelines
Game Day & Event Support
- Assist with game-day setup and breakdown of locker rooms, bench areas, warm-up spaces, and equipment zones
- Help stock water, towels, snacks, and necessary gear for players and staff
- Provide on-site support during matches as directed by the Manager, Equipment & Logistics
Equipment & Inventory Assistance
- Help organize and maintain the team’s equipment storage container
- Assist with inventory tracking, labeling, and basic organization of gear and apparel
- Support cleaning, preparation, and readiness of equipment for practices and games
Visiting Team & Facility Support
- Assist with setup for visiting team practices as needed
- Help provide water, balls, and equipment support during scheduled sessions
Training Camp & Gear Distribution
- Support locker room setup and player gear distribution during training camp
- Assist with apparel organization and equipment issue/return tracking throughout the season
End-of-Season Support
- Assist with end-of-season inventory, gear cleaning, and storage organization
- Help with locker room breakdown and collection of team-issued equipment
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university (sports management, business, communications, or related field preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow direction and work independently when needed
- Comfortable working around professional athletes and staff with professionalism and discretion
- Basic familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) preferred
- Interest in sports operations, event management, or athletics
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods during practices and games
- Capable of lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work in varied indoor and outdoor environments
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays
Transport & Scheduling Notes
- Reliable transportation required
- Driver’s license preferred but not required
- Must be punctual and dependable for scheduled practices and events
