The Seattle Seawolves and Seawolves Foundation are looking for a Community Rugby Development Officer to grow access to the game of Rugby across the Pacific Northwest — building relationships with local rugby clubs, community organizations, schools, and colleges, developing players, coaches, referees, and volunteers, creating the next generation of Seawolves players, fans and supporters while expanding the club’s presence and impact throughout the region.  

This role is for someone who thrives building relationships and engaging others.  This role will own planning and developing youth sports curriculum and partner with Seawolves coaching staff and players along with community organizations to build and grow rugby programming for various youth clinics, camps and after school programs.  They must be a proactive, positive, professional communicator who can rally various teams and stakeholders towards common goals. 

 

·        Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, youth organizations, community groups, rugby clubs, colleges and universities throughout the Pacific Northwest.

·        Develop and deliver community outreach programs that promote rugby and the Seattle Seawolves.

·        Coordinate Seawolves player and coach appearances at community events and rugby activations in collaboration with Rugby Operations Manager.

·        Represent the club at community camps, festivals, rugby events and partner activities.

·        Develop inclusive rugby opportunities that broaden access and increase participation across communities.

·        In partnership with Coaching Staff and Rugby Operations develop curriculum and camp programing for youth rugby development initiatives including Rugby Camps, Run with the Pack, and Rugby in Schools. 

·        Deliver rugby participation programs in schools, clubs and community settings.

·        Drive participation and retention across youth, high school, collegiate and senior rugby.

·        Support clear player pathways into Seawolves development programs, Academy opportunities and professional rugby.

·        Organize coaching clinics, rugby camps, festivals and player-development programs.

·        Support the education and development of coaches, referees and volunteers.

·        Act as a primary liaison between the Seattle Seawolves and the regional rugby community.

·        Develop strategic partnerships with clubs, schools, colleges, universities, and community organizations.

·        Support partner clubs and programs with recruitment, coach education and development initiatives.

·        Help create sustainable rugby programs and partnerships throughout the Pacific Northwest.

·        Plan and deliver Seawolves rugby camps, clinics, holiday programs and community rugby initiatives.

·        Own the operational planning for camps and community programs, ensuring venues, equipment, staffing, meals, schedules and other required resources are organized and available.

·        Ensure camp and program curriculum supports rugby development, participant experience and broader youth and community objectives.

·        Coordinate community attendance and participation at Seawolves home matches, community events and other activations.

·        Develop matchday recognition and engagement opportunities for clubs, schools and community partners, with clear advance communication on timing, logistics and responsibilities.

·        Work collaboratively with Marketing, Partnerships and Ticketing, providing event details, logistics and plans sufficiently in advance to support effective promotion, attendance and engagement.

·        Maintain accurate records of participation, partnerships, programs, and outcomes.

·        Monitor and report against agreed community rugby KPIs and annual objectives.

·        Support grant applications, sponsorship opportunities and community funding initiatives where appropriate.

·        Ensure all activities comply with safeguarding, child protection, risk management and relevant club requirements.

·        Legally authorized to work in the United States.

·        World Rugby Level 1 Coach Certification (minimum).

·        4+ years of experience in community relations, coaching, teaching, sports development, or related field.

·        College degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

·        Proficiency with professional business and communication tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and AI-enabled tools.

·        Passion for rugby, community development, and growing participation.

·        Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

·        Strong organization, IT and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities.

·        Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across rugby and business operations.

·        Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest.

·        Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

·        Knowledge of the rugby landscape within Washington State and the United States.

·        Experience managing community programs, volunteers, camps and events.

·        Experience developing partnerships with schools, clubs, community organizations or local authorities.

We're looking for someone who wants to grow rugby's next generation of players, coaches, and fans across the Pacific Northwest.

Professional sports doesn't operate exclusively Monday through Friday. This position requires flexibility to work Seawolves match days, community events, evenings and weekends throughout the year.

·        Must be able to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

·        Must be able to stand and walk for long periods during events.

·        Must be able to lift, move, or transport event-related materials as needed.

·        Must be comfortable working in indoor and outdoor event environments, including variable weather conditions.

This is an in-office position based in Seattle, WA. While the role requires working in person with the team, the Seawolves offer flexibility to accommodate individual schedule needs and personal accommodations.
