LUG SALES FOUNDING COMMISSIONER ROLE: HELP LAUNCH NEW LEAGUES ACROSS NORTH AMERICA

For many years, the only option for student athletes to continue playing sports while at college was to play for their school's varsity or club teams or join a poorly organized and over policed rec league. LUG was created to provide a better way for student athletes to play casual or competitive sports while at university and college. LUG is filled with friends from across campuses, multiple skill levels, a strong sports community, and a focus on having good times with your teammates.

Now, we’re expanding to new cities and new leagues and we’re looking for driven, entrepreneurial leaders to help us do it.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

LUG is searching for Sales Founding Commissioners to lead the charge in launching leagues in brand-new markets and become the founder of a new sports community. You’ll be the person responsible for building the first teams, securing early players, and laying the foundation for long-term growth.

We’re looking for students or recent grads who:

  • Are passionate about sports and building community.
  • Can hustle like a founder.
  • Want sales experience and the challenge of hitting targets.
  • Want to own their impact and see a league grow because of their work.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Sales Founding Commissioner, you’ll be the leader who plants the flag for LUG in your city. You’ll drive player and team recruitment, build relationships with local groups, and turn your efforts into sustainable leagues. When you succeed in creating leagues, you’ll also open up shift work opportunities (game operations, league management, events) for yourself and others.

This is the perfect role for someone who wants sales experience, thrives in unstructured environments, and is excited about being the person who “started it all” in a brand-new market.

HOW YOU’LL DO IT
  • Recruit players and teams through networking, cold calling, social media messaging, fraternity and club meetings, alumni groups, and in-person outreach at rinks, fields, and gyms.
  • Run grassroots campaigns by tabling at club fairs, visiting student groups, talking to rec/club teams about joining LUG.
  • Build partnerships with facilities, officials, and community organizations to support league operations.
  • Earn shift work and create jobs for your peers by building leagues and staffing them yourself once they’re live (game operations, equipment, social media, events).

REQUIREMENTS
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a post secondary or graduate level program.
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial drive and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communicator who is persistent, organized, and resilient.
  • Passion for sports and community building.
  • Experience leading projects, teams, or events.
  • Access to transportation is a plus.
  • Nice to have - Sales experience (outbound calling, canvassing, fundraising, or related).

PERKS & BENEFITS

  • Commission-based earnings on players and teams you recruit.
  • Shift work opportunities once leagues are live (paid game operations, events, etc.).
  • Discounted season fees for playing LUG.
  • Performance bonuses for hitting sales targets.
  • Free product from LUG and our sponsors.
  • Member of the LUG Management Alumni Network.
  • Fast track to full-time opportunities with the LUG corporate office.

EXPECTATIONS / WEEKLY REQUIREMENTS
  • ~5–10 hours per week of independent sales activity.
  • Hours ramp up leading into season launch.
  • Commission-based pay with additional paid shifts available as leagues go live.
  • LUG hires commissioners to support the entire LUG calendar of sports (Fall, Winter, Spring). Summer applicants will only be asked to work during the summer. Applicants may indicate a preference to lead on a specific sport but will be involved in all leagues.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
