Position Summary

The Vice President, Event Operations & Game Presentation will lead the planning and execution of all matchday operations for LOVB San Francisco. Reporting to the President, this role is responsible for venue operations, court installation and conversion, event staffing, competition operations, game presentation oversight, fan engagement programming, and partner activation execution. The role will serve as the operational owner of the entire matchday experience, ensuring every event is delivered safely, efficiently, and at a standard consistent with the best professional sports organizations in the country.

The ideal candidate combines operational excellence with a passion for creating memorable live experiences and understands how to bring together sporting operations, entertainment, fan engagement, and partnership activation into one seamless event while building a world-class team including seasonal staff and agencies.

Responsibilities

Event Operations Leadership

● Lead planning and execution of all LOVB San Francisco home matches and team-operated events.
● Develop event operations plans, timelines, staffing plans, and operational procedures
● Serve as the primary event operations lead before, during, and after all matches.
● Manage event operations budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation.
● Establish operational standards, policies, and best practices.

Venue Operations & Management

● Serve as the primary liaison with venue partners and facility operators.
● Coordinate all venue logistics, setup, breakdown, storage, and event conversion activities.
● Oversee venue readiness, signage placement, operational infrastructure, and event flow.
● Ensure compliance with venue requirements and operational policies.
● Lead planning for future venue transitions and special event locations.

Court & Competition Operations

● Oversee all court installation and removal processes, including staffing.
● Manage Taraflex court transportation, installation, maintenance, storage, and teardown.
● Coordinate competition requirements with league and sporting operations personnel.
● Ensure all competition areas meet league standards and specifications.
● Manage operational support for teams, officials, broadcasters, and league representatives.

Game Presentation & Production Oversight

● Oversee all game presentation and live event production for home matches.
● Manage external game presentation and production agencies.
● Approve run-of-show documents, scripts, timing elements, entertainment programming, and promotional execution.
● Ensure all game presentation elements align with the organization's brand and fan experience objectives.
● Partner with Marketing and Content teams to integrate storytelling and key franchise moments into the live experience.

Fan Engagement & Matchday Experience

● Lead development and execution of fan engagement programs before, during, and after matches, including full-time and seasonal staff.
● Oversee fan zones, concourse activations, premium experiences and interactive experiences.
● Develop matchday traditions, rituals, and engagement opportunities that strengthen team identity and fan loyalty.
● Continuously evaluate and improve the fan experience through feedback, operational reviews, and industry best practices.
● Partner with Ticketing and Marketing to create experiences that drive attendance, retention, and advocacy.

Partner Activation & Partner Fulfillment

● Oversee operational execution of all in-venue partnership and partner activations.
● Manage activation zones, concourse experiences, hospitality areas, and branded fan experiences.
● Work closely with the Partnerships team to ensure contractual obligations are delivered at a high standard.
● Coordinate agency partners, vendors, and event staff supporting activations.
● Ensure partner activations are integrated seamlessly into the overall fan experience.
● Develop operational systems and processes that support future partnership growth.

Vendor Management & Logistics

● Manage relationships with operational vendors, suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
● Negotiate contracts, scopes of work, and service agreements.
● Coordinate transportation, freight, equipment movement, and operational logistics.
● Oversee inventory management and operational assets.

Safety, Security & Risk Management

● Coordinate event security planning with venue partners and local agencies.
● Develop emergency action plans and operational response procedures.
● Ensure compliance with league, venue, and local safety requirements.
● Lead operational readiness reviews prior to each event.

Financial Management

● Develop and manage annual event operations and game presentation budgets.
● Monitor staffing, production, equipment, and venue-related expenses.
● Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings.
● Manage event settlements and vendor reconciliation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

● Partner with Sporting Operations on competition requirements and athlete needs.
● Coordinate with Ticketing on ingress, premium hospitality, and guest flow.
● Work closely with Marketing on promotional nights, match themes, and key campaign moments.
● Support Partnership teams in delivering contractual activation requirements.
● Coordinate with Communications and Content teams on media and production needs.
