General Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for coordinating all operational elements for races in their region. They will work directly with the Regional Director to ensure successful operational delivery of events are up to the high standards expected for event production. They will oversee the Race Directors, Volunteer Directors and Race Staff producing each of the events. They will maintain financial responsibility for all event expenses, ensuring these remain within budgeted amounts. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. They oversee operational delivery of all designated events in their area of North America, encompassing the various IRONMAN brands including side and ancillary events.  They ensure events are operated in an effective, safe and consistent manner to IRONMAN’s standard level of excellence and day to day management of regional personnel. 

P and L responsibility - Includes (but is not limited to) building, following and executing required regional event budgets in conjunction with the Regional Director and finance team. Position will work with North American functions (Global Partnerships, Marketing, Operations, Merchandise and Finance) to deliver agreed upon targets for event expenses on an annual basis. Position will ensure a culture of performance and cost discipline in all areas of fiscal management.

Event execution/portfolio Management -Execute all events within the portfolio to the highest standard. This includes but is not limited to following global systems and procedures, timelines, safety and budgetary responsibility and policies set forth in the Global IRONMAN Operations Compliance Manual (GIOC) or other global documentation. Serve as the key leader in the region at events and within event communities as required. 

Day to day Office Management- Manage the day to day operations of the operations staff in the Region.  Provide leadership, guidance and direction for all members of the team. Ensure employees are following all Corporate IRONMAN guidelines and that the office is operating in a clear, efficient and functional manner. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • The Operations Manager will lead all regional operations staff working closely with Regional Functional Leadership (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Merchandise, etc.) and closely with the Regional Director. Needs to ensure all regional functions are running properly.
  • Maintain overall expense financial responsibility for his or her region and must ensure staff are executing against all cost targets. This will be through work with event Race Directors. This is done through regular updating of the Race Director Budgets as provided by the finance team.
  • Responsible for coordination with the Regional Marketing Manager to make sure all event athlete communications including Athlete Guides and Final Runner Information are on track for region.
  • Works with the Race Directors to manage key event relationships required to produce events in each community including but not limited to governmental officials, agencies at all levels, as well as key stakeholders for the events of the assigned region.
  • Ensure all functional areas (Operations, Global Partnerships, Marketing, Merchandise) are all effectively working together to ensure world class event operations. 
  • Ensure business opportunities for the region are executed as planned.
  • Provide additional leadership assistance as required.
  • Schedules regular meetings with Race Director/Teams as an entire group.
  • Host regular individual meetings with each Race Director.
  • Ordering, confirming counts and accuracy for all non-retail orders. (Shirts, Medals, Bibs, etc). 
  • Working with creative team to ensure design accuracy on all items for each event.
  • Set and manage timelines for Race Directors meetings and operational manual completion.
  • Work with Race Directors to secure permits and approvals on all venues, agencies and municipalities
  • Build MS Planners for each event and ensure use and accuracy of each.
  • Work with Race Directors to create staff manuals for each event.
  • Schedule 120, 90, 60 and 30-day out calls for all staff on each event.
  • Work with partnerships on all activations for each event.
  • Oversee the race week objectives and timelines. 
  • Ensure all Aid Stations orders are secured, and operational plans are approved and executed correctly.
  • Secure COMMS personnel internally and approve all COMMS operational plans.
  • Secure medical personnel for each event and approve all medical operational plans.
  • Work with the local Volunteer Director for each event to ensure volunteer coverage for each position is thorough.
  • Take care of post-race reporting.
  • Ensure Race Director is inputting all invoice in a timely manner in the ReQlogic system for payment.
  • Ensure the Volunteer Director for each race is fulfilling their responsibilities and securing appropriate number of volunteers.
