The Pittsburgh Thunderbirds, Pittsburgh’s Professional ultimate frisbee team, is seeking a Partnership and Ticketing Sales Intern for the 2025–26 season. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports business, combining event operations, ticket sales, and sponsorship sales.

As a Partnership and Ticketing Sales Intern, you will represent the Thunderbirds at community events, support fan engagement initiatives, assist with gameday operations, and contribute to revenue growth through sponsorship and ticket outreach. This position is ideal for an energetic, motivated student or young professional interested in building a career in event management or sales.

Responsibilities

  • Research and source potential sponsors and ticket opportunities in the Pittsburgh area.
  • Develop and update sponsorship decks tailored to prospects.
  • Conduct outreach (email, calls, in-person) to pitch opportunities.
  • Work with senior management to optimize and customize sponsorship and ticket pitches.
  • Ensure sponsor obligations are fulfilled (advertising, social media posts, ticketing, game day activations).
  • Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with partners and fans.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Outgoing, approachable, and comfortable engaging with the public.
  • Strong organizational skills and reliability — able to balance multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable with commission-based structure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional presence.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (weekends, evenings, some weekdays).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel)/Google Suite (i.e Google Drive) required; basic design skills (Canva/Adobe) a plus; CRM knowledge (i.e HubSpot) preferred but not required.
Education and Experience

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in sports marketing, sales, business, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in sales, customer service, marketing, or event operations is a plus but not required.

This is an unpaid internship eligible for school credit. Interns will receive commission based upon sponsorship and/or ticket sales.
