The Pittsburgh Thunderbirds, Pittsburgh’s Professional ultimate frisbee team, is seeking a Marketing Intern for the 2025–26 season. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports business, combining grassroots marketing, event operations, and community engagement.

As a Marketing Intern, you will represent the Thunderbirds at community events, support fan engagement initiatives, assist with gameday operations, and lead generation. This position is ideal for an energetic, motivated student or young professional interested in building a career in sports marketing or event management.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Thunderbirds at community events, festivals, and schools by engaging with fans and educating the public about ultimate frisbee.
  • Assist with event setup at all six (6) Thunderbirds home games including: set-up, breakdown, and activations (giveaways, promotions, fan experience).
  • Distribute marketing materials and encourage social media engagement.
  • Support game day operations including stadium setup, ticketing, activations, and sponsor fulfillment.
  • Collect fan data and provide post-event reporting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Outgoing, approachable, and comfortable engaging with the public.
  • Strong organizational skills and reliability — able to balance multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional presence.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (weekends, evenings, some weekdays).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel)/Google Suite (i.e Google Drive) required; basic design skills (Canva/Adobe) a major plus; CRM knowledge (i.e HubSpot) preferred but not required.
Education and Experience

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in sports marketing, sales, business, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in customer service, marketing, or event operations is a plus but not required.
