The Pittsburgh Thunderbirds, Pittsburgh’s Professional ultimate frisbee team, is seeking a Gameday Operations Manager for the 2025–26 season. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports business, combining event operations, ticket sales, and sponsorship sales.

As a Gameday Operations Manager, you will build processes for smooth and efficient execution of Pittsburgh Thunderbirds home games at Highmark Stadium. This will include the set-up and break-down of stadium signage, the implementation of our gameday script, and mapping out the stations, activations, and events throughout the stadium to ensure a great fan experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all six (6) Thunderbirds home games including: set-up, breakdown, and activations (giveaways, promotions, fan experience).
  • Develop, maintain, and update the official Thunderbirds home game script.
  • Monitor and report on the overall home game experience and lead discussions on all necessary improvements. 
  • Be the primary point of contact on game days for staff surrounding set-up, timing, supplies, entertainment, and breakdown.
  • Conduct outreach (email, calls, in-person) to record feedback on how to improve the gameday experience. 
  • Conduct outreach (email, calls, in-person) to pitch in-game opportunities (i.e. National Anthem, Coin Toss, Halftime)
  • Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with fans and staff members.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Outgoing, approachable, and comfortable engaging with the public.
  • Strong organizational skills and reliability — able to balance multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional presence.
  • Ability to work on your feet for several hours and work in an outside environment in the summer. 
  • Ability to work weekends from April – August.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel)/Google Suite (i.e Google Drive) required; basic design skills (Canva/Adobe) a plus.
Education and Experience

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in sports marketing, sales, business, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in sales, customer service, marketing, or event operations is a plus but not required.
This is a part-time position that is also eligible for school credit.
