This is an unpaid internship eligible for school credit. Interns will earn commission on sponsorship sales.
The Chicago Union, Chicago’s professional ultimate frisbee team, are seeking a Marketing & Sales Intern for the 2025–26 season. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports business, combining grassroots marketing, event operations, and sponsorship sales.
As a Marketing & Sales Intern, you will represent the Union at community events, support fan engagement initiatives, assist with gameday operations, and contribute to revenue growth through sponsorship outreach and partner relations. This position is ideal for an energetic, motivated student or young professional interested in building a career in sports marketing, event management, or sales.
Responsibilities
Marketing & Event Operations
  • Represent the Union at community events, festivals, and schools by engaging with fans and educating the public about ultimate frisbee.
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and activations (giveaways, promotions, fan experience).
  • Distribute marketing materials and encourage social media engagement.
  • Support game day operations including stadium setup, ticketing, activations, and sponsor fulfillment.
  • Collect fan data and provide post-event reporting.

Sponsorship Sales & Relations
  • Research and source potential sponsors in the Evanston/Chicago area.
  • Develop and update sponsorship decks tailored to prospects.
  • Conduct outreach (email, calls, in-person) to pitch sponsorship opportunities.
  • Work with senior management to optimize and customize sponsorship packages.
  • Ensure sponsor obligations are fulfilled (advertising, social media posts, ticketing, game day activations).
  • Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with partners.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Outgoing, approachable, and comfortable engaging with the public.
  • Strong organizational skills and reliability — able to balance multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable with commission-based structure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional presence.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (weekends, evenings, some weekdays).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Suite required; basic design skills (Canva/Adobe) a plus.
Education and Experience
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in sports marketing, sales, business, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in sales, customer service, marketing, or event operations is a plus but not required.
