The 2022 Special Olympics USA Games is a world-class athletic competition that will draw more than 125,000 spectators and 4,000 athletes to Orlando, FL from June 5-11, 2022.  Athletes with intellectual disabilities from all 50 states and the Caribbean will compete in 20 sports during the event, which will showcase the power, value and impact of the Special Olympics movement and mission.  In addition to a substantial array of rights, benefits and assets, the Games will feature an extensive media platform that includes daily linear and streaming broadcasts, digital and social media, and a 2022 Games mobile application.
 
Position : Senior Vice President of Operations

Purpose:
The SVP of Operations will be responsible for all support services for the Special Olympics 2022 USA Games; from venue management to finance.  They will ensure all Functional Areas are assisted in the planning, managing and implementation of all competition and non-competition (including special events and receptions) needs at each venue. This position has the responsibility of managing efficient, safe and effective integrated operations plans. The SVP will serve in a leadership role to document all planning aspects of the Games, and ensure overall success following the Games completion.  This position will also supervise volunteer and paid staff to create a cohesive and effective logistics leadership team.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Development and Implementation of Operational and Strategic Plans and Objectives
  • Oversee Finance Department and have an awareness and understanding of all budgetary transactions
  • Keep organization on track with finalized Games budget
  • Oversee risk management to ensure employees, guests and athletes are safe from date of hire until the conclusion of employment
  • Oversee a team of Game’s staff who are responsible for all functional/support areas of the games
  • Oversee Information technology to ensure the 2022 USA Games is the most innovative games in Special Olympics history
  • Develop and Manage Game’s App that is both user friendly and effective
  • Ensure that all Athletes, guests, volunteers, and staff are fed by working effectively with food and beverage vendors who align with the nutrition standards set forth by the Special Olympics
  • Work with venue’s and vendors to ensure that the 2022 USA Games is the most sustainable ever
  • Create a transportation strategy to ensure seamless transportation both to the games and at the games
  • Ensure the local law enforcement agencies are present at all venues/comps and a comprehensive ingress/egress and safety plan is created
  • Work to make sure there is experienced Medical personnel at all events that can be on scene within 2 minutes of injury 
  • Make sure Schedules are communicated to athletes by midnight the night before their competition creating the most efficient games communication ever
  • Ensure all athletes are protected from sun and rain throughout the Games
  • Ensure all games events are fully supported and registration tool is easy to use on both ends
  • Implement effective Delegation Services
  • Ensure all athletes have convenient housing with high quality entertainment options on location
  • Ensure housing options available for all guests at the games 
  • Book and organize Honored Guest Housing arrangements
  • Organize efficient registration for all athletes, guests, and volunteers
  • Make sure there is an effective logistics plan and ensure efficient implementation
  • Work closely with Sports staff and Special Events staff to select venues and manage venues throughout employment
 
Status : Full-time exempt position
Salary : Based on experience
