General Purpose:
USA Wrestling is seeking a Social Media Coordinator to join its Communications Department. The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day social media activities of the organization, developing compelling social media content, and supporting the organization on a variety of digital media projects to further organizational initiatives. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have a passion for sports and social media work, be a compelling storyteller through social media platforms, and be a positive influence that elevates team members.
Primary Responsibilities:
Social Media Management
- Serve as primary manager of USA Wrestling’s current social media portfolio which includes Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, including primary responsibility for using imagination and originality to create content.
- Maintain ownership of internal social media calendar, manage cross-departmental social media requests, and keep regular posting cadence per social media platform.
- Oversee the development and implementation of long-term social media strategy and best-practices for the organization. This includes approach to digital content creation, driving social media monetization, paid social media opportunities, staying informed on social media best practices and current trends, and keeping a mindset to innovate across the social media landscape.
- Consistently track key performance metrics of social media projects and report to internal stakeholders. Be able to derive insights from data and adjust social media strategy appropriately.
- Manage social media management technology stack. Provide recommendations to leadership on new tools and resources available to improve operational efficiency in social media management.
- Develop and maintain bullpen of freelance social media professionals to assist with USA Wrestling social media projects as needed.
Content Creation
- Produce original, imaginative content for use on USA Wrestling’s social media platforms. Content mix will require innovative approach, and will spotlight USA Wrestling members, athletes, coaches, events, corporate partners and other various stakeholders. Elements of graphic design, video production and copywriting are required of this position.
- Spearhead social media plan and digital content creation at assigned USA Wrestling regional, national and international events both individually and as part of content team. Relevant tasks may include live social media updates, capturing match highlights, champion interviews, promotional shoots with athletes, behind-the-scenes content, graphic creation, and additional content opportunities as identified by employee.
- Strategically create social media content around community events, athlete promotion, impact and historical moments and brand priorities. This includes bringing original content ideas to the table and collaborating with the team to bring ideas to life.
- Provide social media content toolkits for team members to create and post social media content at assigned events.
- Apply professional judgement to maintain brand identity and consistency in content aesthetics and messaging on social media channels. This role will be a major contributor to shaping the digital voice of USA Wrestling.
Organizational and Corporate Partnership Support
- Serve as a point of contact for USA Wrestling broadcast rightsholders (FloSports), ensuring alignment on programming, event coverage and content priorities through social media channels.
- Provide support for USA Wrestling’s digital marketing campaigns through the creation and posting of social media assets and providing best-practice recommendations. Campaign focus areas may include membership engagement, event registration and ticket sales, corporate partnership fulfillment and owned technology platform user acquisition.
- Coordinate with media partners, affiliated clubs, state associations, corporate sponsors, athletes, coaches, and community influencers on social media-related projects and grow USA Wrestling’s digital footprint through these partnerships.
- Continued development of professional skillset and explore new creative techniques to elevate the USA Wrestling brand through social media.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist with media relations, public relations and event media operations for all levels of USA Wrestling events and activities.
- Uploading of digital content (event photography, event match video) to USA Wrestling photo and video archives.
- Create original multimedia content for USA Wrestling digital platforms including written, photo and video content for USA Wrestling’s website.
Qualifications:
Required
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Digital Media, etc.). A degree with emphasis or specialization in social media is preferred.
- A minimum of one-year relevant professional experience with a focus on content creation and social media management. Previous experience in college or Olympic sports is desirable.
- A working knowledge of and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and Premiere Pro.
- Experience with various social media and content creation tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, HubSpot, Bitly, Canva, Envato Elements and Linktree.
- The ability to write effective, short form copy for various types of social media posts.
- An understanding of current social media trends, what types of content is relevant to each platform, and the different audiences USA Wrestling reaches by channel.
- Passion for creativity, imagination, and translating fresh ideas to a visual presentation that will engage and entertain.
- A resourceful mentality to think outside of the box and problem solve in a variety of professional situations. Will be required to use professional judgement and take ownership of work on a daily basis.
- Willingness to travel to domestic and international events, and work non-traditional hours, including events held on nights, weekends and holidays.
- The ability to work under deadline, work on multiple projects simultaneously, and possess the ability to work both independently and within a group setting.
- Must be able to successfully pass a USA Wrestling background screening (prior to hire date).
- Must successfully complete SafeSport Certification within two weeks of hire date and prior to interacting with athletes.
Preferred
- Basic knowledge of wrestling (athletes, rules, history, etc.).
- Experience working in content management systems and customer relationship management systems.
- Experience with project management systems and maintaining a content calendar.
- Hands-on experience operating digital camera equipment (cameras, microphones, lighting, etc.), being comfortable and confident conducting photo and video shoots across a variety of environments and diverse individuals throughout the wrestling community.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to hold and operate a computer, camera, audio/visual equipment, and other office or event technology.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of items up to 25 pounds (such as event materials, equipment, or supplies).
- Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time at events.
Travel Expectations:
Domestic and international travel including weekends is required.
Hiring Pay Range:
Compensation commensurate with experience.
$57,000-$62,000 per year.

Other Information:
The USA Wrestling Office is located in Colorado Springs, CO - ability to work from the office is required.
This individual will coordinate closely with staff across all departments at USA Wrestling. The position also includes work with volunteers throughout the organization.
