REPORTS TO: Greg Mescall, Chief Content & Growth Officer
COMPENSATION: $71,000 -$74,000 Annual Salary (Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience)
LOCATION: Hybrid SoCal; Must be based in Southern California; Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; relocation assistance is not provided.

POSITION PURPOSE 
The Director of Content for USA Water Polo is a multi-faceted position that creates, scripts, shoots, edits and produces a variety of video and photo projects in addition to collaborating in the management of social media accounts. The position is for a creative sports-loving self-starter who is dedicated to the proper completion of projects in a thorough and timely manner that helps elevate exposure to the game of water polo and the USA Water Polo brand. This individual provides services to both the National Teams, and National Office of USA Water Polo. Content creation and social media is ever-evolving and becomes a more integral piece of USA Water Polo’s communications efforts each day. This position is for an individual who welcomes that challenge and strives for greatness every day. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 
Video Production & Editing 
  • Serve as videographer at a variety of assigned events including: National Championships, National Team competitions, practices, development/fundraising events, media events, etc. 
  • Additionally serves as camera person in the production of features, profiles, instructional videos, webcasts, etc. 
  • Acts as producer/editor from concept through completion, in the coverage and presentation of highlights of above-mentioned events, in addition to other projects, including but not limited to, sponsorship projects, contest submissions, staff presentations, annual highlights, athlete and Hall of Fame profiles, event promotional videos, television features, etc. 
  • Develops a production schedule/outline for completion of above projects including development of story concepts/project focus. 
  • Responsible for accounting and organization of all video footage and maintenance of database and filing system for video footage. 
  • Maintains a calendar of all video projects and projected completion dates. 
  • Works as co-producer on various projects including weekly news program. 
  • Coordinates shoot locations, interviews, story research/details, etc., and takes initiative as a producer.  
  • Manages the distribution of completed videos as requested (i.e.: reach engage and upkeep of USAWP Social Media, providing requested content to media partners/sponsors, etc.)
  • Assists in managing USAWP social media accounts with the rest of content and communications staff. 
General 
  • Ensure projects are completed according to plan, schedule and budget. 
  • Communicate project status to key stakeholders, and coordinate closely with the Chief Content & Growth Officer and supporting teams. 
  • Assist in communication efforts on occasion, including website, social media, etc. 
  • Integrate the building of character and values, as well as the concept of teamwork, into our video production approach. 
  • Exercise creative problem-solving and cutting-edge innovation when the opportunity is presented. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Working with the Chief Content & Growth Officer, or others as assigned, to complete video production and content creation efforts. 
  • Work is planned, communicated, and executed in a timely way. 
  • Editorial Work is accurate and well-executed.

  • Resources are managed wisely and within budget.

QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in content creation, video production or related field or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum 2 years video production and content creation experience (preferred). 
  • High proficiency in use of professional video cameras (Canon, Sony, etc.) 
  • High proficiency in use of MacIntosh computers & Final Cut Pro/Final Cut Express/After Effects, mastery of graphics, effects, and editing.
  • Experienced in posting on social media to large followings (Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook, etc.)
  • Sound journalistic decision making regarding what to include in content, on social media, etc. 
  • News and feature script-writing skills preferred 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Superior attention to detail 
  • Familiarity and experience with basic computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel) 
  • High proficiency at Internet research 
  • Flexible schedule including evenings/weekends, some travel. 
  • Knowledge of, and passion for sports, generally (water polo preferred but not required) 
  • Must provide sample video portfolio or web link to online portfolio
