Associate Director of Safe Sport and Constituent Programs

BASIC FUNCTION: 
  • Serve as primary liaison and administrator for all Safe Sport matters and Association/Club (Constituent) programs.
 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Serve as primary liaison to the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, US Center for SafeSport, other national governing bodies, youth organizations, etc. for all Safe Sport matters. 
  • Serve as the National Office liaison to the Associations Committee. 
  • Review, update and develop all USATF Safe Sport policies and procedures.  Work closely with various departments to ensure best practices are created, communicated and consistently followed.    
  • Ensure that all relevant complaints are properly reported to the U.S. Center for SafeSport, Law Enforcement, and Child Protective Services. 
  • Conduct trauma-informed investigations for any reports in which the U.S. Center for SafeSport declines jurisdiction and/or for any reports that fall within the Center’s discretionary jurisdiction. 
  • Provide communication to all relevant parties on progress and status of complaints, investigation, hearing procedures, appeals and final resolutions. 
  • Implement, monitor, and enforce Interim Safety Measures and Safety Plans when necessary. 
  • Oversee all Safe Sport training and education completions among various constituent groups (USATF staff, officials, coaches, volunteers, etc.) to ensure that comprehensive training is provided on Safe Sport matters.  Deploy training requirements and ensure compliance with training requirements.  
  • Ensure there are effective tracking systems for compliance, complaints and related matters, and provide updates and status reports as appropriate. 
  • Disseminate information through USATF monthly newsletters, monthly webinars, emails, social media, USATF’s website etc. for both Safe Sport and Association matters.
  • Provide regular and consistent information to Association Safe Sport Volunteer Coordinators through monthly meetings. 
  • Manage and oversee audits from regulatory bodies (USCSS) to ensure compliance with safety measures and policies and stay up to date with USOPC, World Athletics, and USCSS standards and training. 
  • Organize, schedule, and administer background screen appeal hearings for individuals whose criminal history records require USATF’s review. 
  • Work with Associations, members, coaches, athletes, parents and volunteers to increase understanding of Safe Sport. 
  • Direct USATF Safe Sport event outreach efforts by regularly attending Association and Region Championship events and provide feedback to event organizers to ensure they are able to pass a U.S. Center for SafeSport audit should they be selected for one. 
  • Vet all accreditation lists to ensure athlete safety at USATF events. 
  • Ensure Safe Sport policies are being followed at all USATF Championship and Grand Prix events, and to provide support with accreditation and athlete safety issues on site. Ensure that USATF is a leader in the athlete safety realm in terms of advocacy efforts within the Olympic movement and beyond. 
  • Oversee the Reunification process for athletes who are under the age of 10 years old at all Youth championships. 
  • Serve as an information resource for USATF constituents as it pertains to athlete safety and Association/club programs. 
  • Plan and bring educational opportunities to the Annual Meeting and other meetings, as appropriate. 
  • Direct the planning of the Associations workshop and other annual programs with the Associations committee. 
  • Plan and execute programs to enhance the Associations and Club programs. 
  • Draft and monitor budgets for the safe sport and Association programs.  
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
 QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Law degree or master’s level degree in relevant discipline (legal studies, social services, law enforcement, etc.) preferred.  Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in related field. 
  • Solid interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Ability to assess a problem objectively and move through problem solving effectively using discretion and judgement. 
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills with attention to detail. 
  • Experience with conducting multiple party/complex investigations including interviewing skills, assessments and recommendations. 
  • Must be able to pass a USATF background screen and drug test.
 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  
  • Ability stand and walk for long periods  during events.  Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
 NON-PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically and work irregular hours, including on call hours
