Job Summary:
The Manager, Operations is responsible for managing all operational aspects of international camps and competitions for the National Team. This position reports to the Director & Coach, National Team, to provide high-level logistical support for both domestic and international travel. The Manager, Operations, will develop strong working relationships with elite coaches, athletes, volunteers, and representatives from international organizations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop a timeline and itineraries for each international trip.
  • Research and recommend hotels for training camps and competitions, including site visits when possible.
  • Negotiate all contracts for air, hotel, ground transportation, and training venues.
  • Develop meal timelines, menus, rooming lists, and other logistics with hotels.
  • Determine needs for ground transportation and training sites.
  • Coordinate air travel arrangements in consultation with the designated travel agency.
  • Establish proper uniform needs for each trip.
  • Secure and pack all equipment for each trip, including palletized shipments and team bags.
  • Coordinate resources with external stakeholders, including additional USA Swimming staff, United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee staff, local organizing committee staff, and contractors.
  • Own GMS entries process for World Aquatics Events.
  • Develop a trip handbook for all team members.
  • Travel to domestic and international competitions as needed.
  • Oversee and support volunteer staff, including team managers and dietitians.
  • Manage all accounts payable and receivable for competitions.
  • Compose post-competition surveys for staff and athletes.

Other Duties:
  • Working with suit manufacturers on apparel, suits, caps, training equipment, etc.
  • In coordination with the other Operations staff, coordinate travel for National Team onboarding and other domestic events as needed.
  • Support other National Team Division committees as assigned.

Education & Experience:
  • A bachelor’s degree in sports management, related field, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working with National Team or National Junior Team athletes.
  • Experience providing support and planning of international events.
  • Proven experience coordinating and managing large groups or teams.
  • Experience with or understanding of National Governing Bodies structures, roles, objectives, and culture in relation to the Olympic movement and athlete relations.
  • Swimming experience, coaching experience and knowledge of USA Swimming is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 40% of the year.
  • Ability to maintain proper documentation that allows for international travel is required.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, transport equipment up to 20 pounds and manage energy expenditure over trips that can last several weeks.
  • This position works in an office setting in the USA Swimming office in Colorado Springs, CO; must be willing to relocate to Colorado Springs or the surrounding area(s).

Salary & Benefits:
  • Salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually.
  • Bonus Eligibility: Based on company performance, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus target of 7.50%.

USA Swimming expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would USA Swimming consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
