REPORTS TO: Director of Communications
PURPOSE: Create, implement, and oversee communications strategies - internal or external - that
effectively promote USA Softball local associations, National Championships and Sport
Development initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
General
  • Act as the lead on USA Softball membership content, creating communication materials to promote USA Softball across all 50 states
  • Execute a year-round communications plan that provides positive media coverage of USA Softball local associations, National Championships and Sport Development initiatives
  • Cover USA Softball membership events ranging from select travel tournaments to National Championship play and produce recaps, highlight clips and other promotional items
  • Work with National Championship and tournament directors on establishing live streaming of USA Softball events
  • Execute digital content to ensure relevant and engaging content for the USA Softball membership department
  • Maintain historical archive of USA Softball National Championships records, stats, etc.
  • Assist in managing all media requests for local associations and member events
  • Consistently generate story ideas for USA Softball local associations, National Championships and sport development initiatives
  • Assist communications department as a webmaster for USASoftball.com, overseeing all local
  • associations information, their events, umpire/rulebook updates, and more.
  • Work with partnerships to ensure that social media post are made in accordance to our contracts.
  • Help with improvement to the National Softball Hall of Fame Museum.
  • Work with internal newsletter that is sent out to membership.
  • Produce and execute content to promote Safe Softball in relation with the U.S. Center for SafeSport. 
Umpire Program
  • Assist Director of Umpires with educational content to cover umpire training and mechanics
  • Produce Certified Equipment and other educational content for USA Softball tournament
  • officials and administrators

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to work at National Headquarters in Oklahoma City, OK
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field
  • Excellent organizational focus and attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of Communications and Public Relations
  • Clear, concise and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter as well as work in team environment
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends and travel domestically/internationally
  • Works effectively and quickly in a dynamic environment with exceptional prioritizing skills
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and work outside for events
  • Eager to learn in an ever-changing industry with a passion for sports, softball preferred
  • Two years of related experience preferred
  • Graphic design and video editing capabilities (Canva, Adobe, CapCut)
