Position Summary
The Men's Competition Manager is responsible for the administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of men's collegiate rugby competitions conducted under the authority of USA Rugby.
Reporting to the General Manager of College Rugby, the Men's Competition Manager serves as the primary staff contact for men's collegiate conferences, member institutions, competition committees, coaches, and volunteers. The position is responsible for ensuring that competitions are professionally administered, competition regulations are consistently applied, championships are successfully delivered, and member institutions receive exceptional support throughout the competitive season.
The Men's Competition Manager works collaboratively with the College Rugby Association of America (CRAA), the USA Rugby College Council, conferences, referees, coaches, and USA Rugby staff to strengthen the collegiate competition pathway and enhance the student-athlete experience.

Primary Responsibilities
Competition Administration
Administer USA Rugby men's collegiate competitions by:
  • Coordinating annual competition calendars.
  • Supporting conference scheduling and competition administration.
  • Administering Competition Regulations and eligibility requirements.
  • Managing standings, rankings, and championship qualification.
  • Coordinating postseason and bowl competition administration.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for competition-related questions and issues.
Championship Administration
Coordinate the planning and delivery of national championship events, including:
  • Championship qualification.
  • Team communications.
  • Event logistics.
  • Competition schedules.
  • Match operations.
  • Team services.
  • Awards and recognition.
  • Post-event reporting.
Work collaboratively with USA Rugby Event Operations and Communications staff to ensure a first-class championship experience.
Member Services
Provide outstanding customer service to:
  • Conferences.
  • Member institutions.
  • Club administrators.
  • Coaches.
  • Student-athletes.
  • Volunteers.
Respond promptly to inquiries and assist institutions in navigating USA Rugby competition requirements and procedures.
Competition Development
Support the continued growth and improvement of men's collegiate rugby by:
  • Identifying opportunities to improve competition structures.
  • Assisting with conference alignment and development.
  • Supporting the creation of new collegiate programs.
  • Monitoring participation trends.
  • Recommending operational improvements.
Compliance & Eligibility
Assist in administering:
  • Team eligibility.
  • Player eligibility.
  • Roster verification.
  • Competition compliance.
  • Match reporting.
  • Championship qualification requirements.
Coordinate with USA Rugby Membership, Compliance, and Athlete Safety staff as appropriate.
Committee Support
Provide administrative support to:
  • Men's Competition Committee.
  • Competition working groups.
  • Championship committees.
  • College Council meetings, as assigned.
Prepare agendas, reports, recommendations, and meeting materials.
Communications
Coordinate competition communications, including:
  • Competition updates.
  • Championship information.
  • Competition bulletins.
  • Policy reminders.
  • Calendar updates.
  • Website content related to men's competitions.
Work with USA Rugby Communications to ensure timely and accurate messaging.
Strategic Support
Assist the Director of College Rugby with:
  • Annual operating plans.
  • Competition evaluations.
  • Membership growth initiatives.
  • Budget planning.
  • Data collection and reporting.
  • Special projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in sports administration, collegiate athletics, event management, or rugby administration.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working with volunteers, committees, and member organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering collegiate or amateur sports competitions.
  • Knowledge of collegiate rugby competition structures.
  • Experience planning sporting events or championships.
  • Experience using competition management software and registration systems.

Position Philosophy

Compensation & Benefits (Colorado EPEWA‑Compliant)

Compensation Range: $50,000 – $75,000 annually. The following represents the good-faith salary range and benefits package for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Incentive Opportunities: This role is eligible for annual performance bonus.
