Event Management: Event Operations/Management
The Vice President of National Events is currently an exempt, full-time position reporting to the Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer. The primary responsibilities of the position are to provide leadership and oversight for USA Pickleball operated tournaments, National Championships, and all ancillary events throughout the year. This is a leadership role that will manage an events team responsible for event planning, logistics, volunteers, player gifting procurement, site selection, and travel. 

Job duties for this position include but are not limited to:
  • Lead a team of 3+ full-time employees, charged with developing and executing all aspects of event operations for USAP tournaments across the country. 
  • Direct oversight of the USA Pickleball National Championships, including, but not limited to: logistics, TV production, volunteers, travel, player experience, pro play, and partner integration.
  • Management of all tournament travel and shipping logistics. 
  • Oversee a comprehensive department budget, ensuring all financial goals and KPI’s are hit. 
  • Work with local city and state stakeholders to negotiate favorable rates and concessions pertaining to our event needs and lodging support. 
  • Serves as USAP’s point of contact for local organizing committees, event crews, event vendors, city, venue departments and agencies.
  • Buildout of operations and logistics manuals for each city, ensuring a consistent process flow and brand standards. 
  • Work in conjunction with USAP departments to provide exceptional integration of partners, members, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with USAP communications department to provide supporting content on all tournament messaging, website updates, and social content.
  • Conduct site visits on a regular basis, ensuring all event needs and stakeholder integrations are met.
  • Work closely with USAP membership, sanctioning and competition team leaders regarding registration process. 
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all parties involved in the planning process. 
  • Provide key analysis for the operations department during the development stages for new revenue generating events.
  • Annual reporting for senior leadership on event recaps and operational efficiencies. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of event operations experience, specifically in the areas of sports and entertainment.
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Extremely detailed oriented. 
  • Strong organization, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 25%.
